Maya Angelou was a African American women who was know for being a civil rights activist, and became famous for her art. She was an award winning poet, writer, play writer, and actor. She was also admired by Presidents Bill Clinton and Barrack Obama, when they awarded her presidential awards for her accomplishments. Her art made history since it was known nation wide and had many best-sellers.
