Principal's Message

Dear Sabre families,

The month of September seems to have gone by quickly as we start October this week. I hope you and your family had a good month and are taking care and staying well. Time seems to be flying by with Thanksgiving two weeks away. Thank you again to our Sabre families for the continued support shown to the school.

This week brings us to Parent Teacher Interviews today and are done virtually according to the appointment times you have scheduled.

Orange Shirt Day:

This week also brings us to Orange Shirt Day on Wednesday, September 30. We show our support by wearing orange. If your child does not have orange to wear, that’s ok! Students will be provided with an “Every Child Matters” sticker day of.

Some of you may not know many details about Orange Shirt Day. Please see the following to learn more about the day and why we wear orange:

This year, we at Salisbury want to give back by supporting “Shannen’s Dream”. Students will be invited to make a "pencil gram" Monday and Tuesday at lunch this week to show their fellow Sabres "why you matter"; for each pencil gram that is made, we will donate $0.25 to Shannen's Dream. As we are currently not able to accept cash donations, we will be donating on behalf of the students and staff.

If you would like to show your support that “School is a time for dreams, every kid deserves this” – Shannen Koostachin, please see the following link for more information and to donate online:

Parent Council:

Also, due to Google crashing this past Thursday, we postponed the Parent Council to this Thursday October 1 at 6:00. Should you wish to attend, CLICK HERE to join. You may also find the link on our website.

School Fees: Now Available

School fee information for the 2020-21 school year is now posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. When you log on, you’ll notice the fee schedule is different from previous years. Instead of a fee based on the entire year, fees are charged on a quarterly basis.

The fee schedule change accommodates students switching from out-of-school learning to in-school learning; the four-semester system in place at some schools, and possible fee adjustments if the province decides to transition to Scenario 2—partial return to school—or Scenario 3—the suspension of in-school classes. Fees for kits or equipment kept by the student are charged in full at the start of the course.

Each quarter, you’ll receive an email notification letting you know fees are posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. To access your fee information, go to “Student Fees” on PowerSchool. There you can view your fees and pay online using Visa, MasterCard or INTERAC Online—when available from your financial institution. All fees are due within 14 days of being posted. NOTE: School Fees apply to in-school learners only.

If circumstances exist where you are unable to pay your fees, you can apply to have fees waived by submitting an Application for a Waiver of Fees. The deadline is Dec. 15, 2020—if new to EIPS, the deadline is the latter of Dec. 15, 2020, or 45 days after registration.

For more information about school fees, waivers and payment deadlines, visit and for Salisbury, CLICK HERE. Alternatively, contact the school at 780-467-8816.

November Exams:

To help in your planning, see below for the Exam Schedule for Quarter One. This quarter system is new for all of our students so we are being intentional with our communication and preparation over the next five weeks.

Have a good end to September and excellent start to October.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions or concerns.

Apply Alberta is the online system that prospective students use as part of their applications to post-secondary institutions. Although students will need to wait until October 1 to complete their applications, they may begin work through Apply Alberta beforehand. Students will be prompted to create a MyAlberta Digital ID prior to completing their academic profiles within Apply Alberta. In the last steps, students select the post-secondary institutions they wish to apply to and pay the registrations fees for those institutes.
