Welcome Back, Mandy Pigatto!

We have re-hired Mandy Pigatto to fill the paraprofessional position that was open due to Lisa Spysktra's resignation. Mandy worked here as a paraprofessional a couple of years ago and has been subbing for us on a quite frequent basis. She will be starting in this position on Monday. We are really excited to have her back and know that you will join us in welcoming her back to the team!

Teachers: We are noticing some inconsistencies with how tardies are being marked. The official policy is that students are tardy if they are not in their seat when the 8:50 a.m. bell rings. If a student is in the hallway at 8:50, they should be marked tardy. It is important that we are all doing this the same way. We have some families where 1 child is being marked tardy and the other isn't, which is confusing when they come to school together. If a student is not in your classroom by 8:53 a.m., you should mark them absent. If they come in after that, the office staff will change them to tardy. Please do your best to be consistent with this and ask in the office if you have any questions! Thank you!

Board Presentation

Thank you to all who filled out the Google Survey with their preference for the topic of our board presentation. The majority of teachers voted for highlighting the Jaguar Jumpstarts. I will begin working on the presentation itself and will keep you posted on our progress. If you are interested in being part of the presentation, please let me know right away. The Board Meeting is on Tuesday, January 19 at 7:00 p.m. Thanks!

Combined Grade Level Team Meetings

The Leadership Team met yesterday and discussed current needs for grade levels. Based on our discussion, we have decided that the next three Combined Grade Level Team Meetings will be Grade Level Team meetings with the following topics:

January 12 - PIE Planning or Math Flexible Grouping Pre-Tests/Planning

January 26 - PIE Planning or Math Flexible Grouping Pre-Tests/Planning

February 9 - SLO - Mid-Interval Review (Form in MLP will be due February 15)

If you have any questions, let me or your team leader know. Thanks!

Records Day

Teachers: January 22 is a full Records Day. There will be no other PD or meetings that day.

Press Releases

District is requesting that if our school writes any Press Releases for important events, acknowledgements, congratulations, etc. that we provide Todd Bugnacki and Ann Weaver a copy of the release so that they are also aware of the notice. If you write a Press Release for anything, please give a copy to me or Brenda so that we can send it to district and so that we are aware as well. Thanks!

Variety Show

The Thorson Variety Show is on Tuesday, March 15. We will be doing a Thorson Staff number this year and would love to have as many staff as possible participate and show their school spirit. Lynn sent out a Google survey on Thursday. As Lynn stated in her email, we will be doing the song "Happy" with the excercise balls. Please fill out the form regarding your participation as soon as possible. Thanks!

New Instruments

We were lucky to receive funds to purchase new insturments for our music program. Mrs. Plaster is very excited to have these new instruments and is already using them with numerous grade levels. Below is a picture of Mrs. Budde's class learning to be musicians!
