LIFE SIZE WHALE CREATED BY MRS. MCCLENDON'S ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE STUDENTS
Mrs. McClendon's Environmental Science students created a life-size model of a humpback whale. The whale measures a staggering 70' x 50' x 17'! After studying about whales the students wanted to create a life size model to show our faculty and student body how large they really are. Under the guidance of Mrs. McClendon, the students designed and constructed the whale by themselves. It took several class periods of hard work, lots of plastic and tape, and a few leaf blowers...and the result is absolutely amazing! The students aim to increase awareness about the threats facing the humpback whale population by taking the whale on the road to visit several of our local elementary schools. Stay tuned for more coverage of this whale's tale!

PHYSICAL SCIENCE - MARBLE ROLLER COASTERS
Mrs. Mays and Mrs. Brickhouse's Physical Science students completed their end of the semester project. They built a roller coaster from card stock. The students worked in groups of 4 and were responsible for coming up with a unique design all on their own. The students set up their roller coasters in the Library and then teachers cast their vote for their favorite coaster. The top three will receive extra credit!!

Sign Up to Round Up!
The Round Up Program was started by The Schools Foundation and Huntsville Utilities to support local public school systems. The Schools Foundation is a funding partner of Madison County Schools. The more residential and commercial locations that round up, the more funding we can receive. Estimates show that if just half of the residential Huntsville Utilities users rounded up, it would generate approximately $500,000 to support our schools! By rounding up your utility bill to the nearest dollar each month, you help invest in the future of our students!
You can easily sign up to round up online:
http://www.hsvutil.org/myhsvu…/checkbill/roundup/signup.html
It might be a penny, it might be 25 cents, it might be 99 cents, but it will be no more than $11.88 a year. It takes less than 1 minute to fill out.
Thank you for supporting one of our community partners! Go Bucks!
