Principal's Message - Aug. 30th
Greetings!
The Back to School Picnic was a wonderful success! It was fantastic seeing so many new and returning families all sharing a meal and getting to know one another. Thank you to everyone who helped put the event together, especially our Social Chair, Shannon Hopkins! That's what the Holy Rosary Community is all about...spreading the Gospel message of faith, service, and love through action! It is my hope that you are finding these newsletters helpful. The format is meant to make it easy to scroll through and locate the information that you need quickly and easily. Our new secretary will be starting very soon and the letters will be sent out in both Spanish and English every week. Thank you for your patience on this matter.
I look forward to seeing all of those smiling little faces tomorrow. Remember, school starts at 8 am and ends at noon on Monday, 8/31. Beginning Tuesday, we are on to the regular full-day schedule. Have a fantastic week and please say some prayers for our staff, students, and families as we return to school for the year.

Drop Off/Pick Up Procedures for Pre-K 3 & 4
Regular Procedures:
Drop-off and Pick-up times will be 15 minutes earlier to allow for signing in and signing out. 7:45 in the morning and 2:45 in the afternoons.
We are a licensed childcare facility so we need to abide by Washington State Department of Early Learning regulations. One important regulation is that parents upon arrival with their children sign-in and also sign-out at dismissal. We are working out a system that will not cause a parking problem. Pray for us!! We are hoping to go out into the cul-de-sac in the front of the building and have you drive around till you get to one of the teachers who will hand you a clipboard for you to sign in your child. We hope to keep the carpool line moving around the cul-de-sac. However, if want to come into the building to deliver your child, you will have to follow the other carpool line that goes to the back of the school. There you will notice two lines. One is for parents to drop-off and drive off and another is a line to park by the back wall to the right of the playground. That would be the line for you! Then you get out with your child and walk all the way around the front the school between the Nun’s house and the school building on left and enter through the office front doors where you will sign-in!!!!
Don’t go in the back doors of the school building. Grades K-8 will go through there.
Rainy Day Procedures:
On rainy days, we have a different procedure. Students come in when they arrive no earlier than 7:45 a.m. Your child can be dropped off in the front and teachers will go out with umbrellas to bring them in and have you sign-in. In the afternoons, when we see your car arrive through the foyer, your child’s last name will be announced and they will go out through the front door with a teacher and umbrella and sign-out sheet. Your older siblings will hear their last name called over the Speakers and they will come down and go out through the front door with their Pre-K brother or sister.

Extended Care Procedures - New Location!!
Mornings: 6:30 am - 8 am
Afternoons: 3 pm - 6 pm
The 3 & 4 year olds will be in the small pre-k room on the first floor. Ms. Taylor will be in charge of the little ones. She has been working in childcare for several years and is certified through the Dept of Early Learning to work with this age group. To access the room for drop off/pick up, please enter the main double doors in the front and ring the white door bell to the right side of the second set of double doors.
The kids in Kindergarten through grade 8 will be in Mr. Gabe's room on the second floor. Mr. Ivan will be working with the older students. He comes to us with a wealth of experience teaching Spanish both in Peru and in Washington. He is a native of Peru and will be excellent at helping our JDA students with their Spanish (or English) homework. Please go up the outside stairs in the front of the school and ring the white door bell next to the double doors on the second floor (on the balcony) to access the K - 8 Extended Care.
