Happy Friday Kipling Families,

We are quickly approaching the conclusion of this school year - I cannot believe we are down to the final 2.5 weeks. For those of you who attended our incredible K-2 Art Show last night, you can see the hard work and creative energy of our students and staff are still shining through as we approach June 7th. Thank you to Ms. Foran for all of the effort you give and the dedication you have for our school community. Our hallways are colorful, fun, and motivating for everyone who walks through our school - most importantly, our students.

All my best to you and your families over the weekend!

Respectfully,

Mr. Matthew O. Lombardo, NBCT

Students Not Returning to Kipling for 2023-2024

This form is for current Kindergarten - 4th grade students who will not return to Kipling for the 2023-2024 school year. All student records will be transferred to the new school over the summer. The new school must submit a request for records via fax or email. Please submit one form for each of your children who are NOT returning to Kipling.

A Book a Day in May Challenge

During the month of May we are challenging EVERY classroom to read a book a day. The books we are reading have a focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as well as Social Emotional topics. Our goal is to challenge our thinking, see the world through different lenses, understand and appreciate different perspectives and experiences, and strengthen our social emotional skills.

Our district’s core values state the following: “We embrace people of all identities, races, ethnicities, genders, ages, religions, abilities, orientations, education levels, national origins, or any other distinguishing characteristics.” As such, the age-appropriate books we will share with students may feature diverse characters that represent this core value. If you have any questions or would like your child to not participate, please let Mr. Lombardo and/or your teacher know.

We hope that each classroom enjoys reading and discussing some REALLY GREAT books. Thank you, Ms. Thurman, for organizing this fun literacy event for our school this month!

The Bravest Warrior Book - Available for Purchase!

Attached is the order form for the book that our students had read to them during our Virtual Author's Visit today. Book orders are due May 26th. All book orders are placed online, they will be autographed, and sent to Kipling in one bulk order, ready for distribution on June 2nd.

On Thursday, June 1st, please join us for “Storytime for Ms. Schippers” from 4:30-5:30pm in the Kipling field. Bring your family, a blanket, and a good book as we all read to honor Ms. Schippers and her legacy of literacy.
