Barry News
August 26
š“āā ļø We have had a GREAT first week!
It has been wonderful having our Barry Family back in the building this week! We know getting back to our school routines sometimes takes time. We appreciate your patience when our busses and car rider lines took longer than usual and your partnership making sure our Pirates were ready and excited to return to school. It's going to be a great year! We hope to see everyone at the first home football game and Pep Rally tonight (more info on that below).
Have a great weekend -
Mrs. Hoffecker and Dr. Adams

Friday, August 26 is the Pirates first home football game (Pirate Stadium, 7 p.m. kickoff). Before the game, Price Chopper in Platte City is hosting our Pirates ROCK Kickoff and Community Tailgate! Come join the community before the Pirates take on the Kearney Bulldogs for the Highway 92 Showdown. Tailgate is from 5-7 p.m.; performances by PCHS drumline, cheerleaders, and dance team from 5-6 p.m. Free hot dogs, chips, water, popcorn, and FUN!
Pirate football games are a time for us all to gather and enjoy some fantastic company and great sports. Please remind your students that the football stadium is an extension of the classroom, and appropriate behavior and good sportsmanship are expected.
Due to our construction, the North Gate at Pirate Stadium will be the only entry. Click here for complete football gameday information.
6th Grade Parent Transition Night Details
We look forward to welcoming our 6th grade parents next week to learn our Middle School ways. We will start our evening in the gym where you will receive a rotation schedule through our 6th grade classrooms to learn about Behavior Expectations and Live School, SISK12 Parent Portal Access and Grading Practices, Retakes and Fastbridge assessments.
MIDDLE SCHOOL CELL PHONE EXPECTATIONS: To Ensure a Focus on Learning and Connecting
Parents, please note the updated middle school cell phone expectations for this school year. Our focus is on student learning, support, and connections. To minimize disruption to the learning environment, phones should not be used during class times (from bell to bell). Cell phones may only be used before or after school, or during passing periods after arriving in class and before the bell rings. Additionally, to encourage appropriate social behavior, we are not allowing technology during lunch. In the past, technology was allowed during lunch, but we are going to prioritize conversations and being present with our classmates over technology, starting with this school year. There will be times for technology at lunch as an incentive for positive behavior, but to start the year, we are engaging with each other IRL (In Real Life).
We have communicated these expectations to students this week, and explained our reasoning:
- We are a place where we connect face-to-face, in-person.
- We are a place that sees others, talks to others, and we are with others.
- When we do use our phones, we use them for good (no pictures/videos, donāt speak badly of others).
If you need to reach your student, please call the office at 816-436-9623.
