Principal's Message
Our goal for attendance is 97%. Last year, we had 96.3%. While we are doing great, there is still room for improvement.
We will begin posting weekly totals for absences, tardies, and early dismissals as a way to bring awareness to the amount of instructional time that students are missing. We understand and appreciate that when your child is sick you keep them at home until they are well. We also understand that sometimes you need to pull your child for appointments throughout the day.
Please make sure that upon returning you send in a note within 5 school days, letting us know why your child was out so the absence is excused.
We appreciate your continued support in helping us meet our attendance goal of 97%!
Please know that my entire leadership team is here for you at any time. Please feel free to reach out to any of us.
With Bronco Pride,
Sandra Speer, Principal
Amy Gollogly, Assistant Principal
Herman Lartigue, Assistant Principal
Library Corner
Does your child need more access to books? Please try Overdrive, our eBook collection!
www.kleinisd.net > FamilyNET > StudentNET > Overdrive > Elementary Login > Library card number = S and student ID number (ex: S012345) > Pin = last four digits of the student id (ex. 2345)
Search among a vast number of eBooks and eAudiobooks. Students can check out up to 3 of these books onto their account. Whether at home or at school, the most important reminder when using Overdrive is to always select 'Read in browser' after check out. The books will automatically return and clear off students' accounts after 2 weeks. Happy reading!
Pumpkin Storybook Character Family Project 2019
Small pumpkin characters and books can be sent in October 28 – 30th. The pumpkins will be on display and our students will have the chance to vote on
October 30th for their favorite! A letter with more information will be coming home soon!
Please feel free to edit any of this or let me know if any changes need to be made.
Thank you for all your support,
Tiffany
Counselor Corner
Hello again everyone,
We are off to a fast start this school year and its already October! October is a month where we are going to focus more on building character and being a positive influence on each other. A word that you may hear often this month is upstander. Upstanders are people that stand up. The upstander is a person who knows what’s happening is wrong and does something to make things right. Speaking up on someone’s behalf takes courage. By doing so, a student is becoming a person of character, a leader, and is also involved in helping someone else.
With that being said, I am going to challenge our Brill students each day in October. Every morning a challenge will be read on the announcements for them to attempt. For example: “Today’s challenge is to greet someone you don’t know by introducing yourself.” And we shall see how many challenges they can conquer!
Feel free to ask your student each day about the daily challenge. Hopefully this will spark some great conversations at home about the importance of respect, kindness, and being a genuine person of character.
Also, the week of October 28th will be Character Week, with Thursday, the 31st, being our Career Day! Keep an eye out for information regarding special dress up days.
Have a great month,
Mr. Scherrman
