Annual Overnight Field Trip: 5th Grade Science Camp for Sartorette
The Governing Board voted to approve the annual overnight field trip for Sartorette's 5th grade students to attend an Outdoor Science Camp at the YMCA Camp Campbell for the 2021-22 school year. Sartorette’s field trip date is October 26-29, 2021. Please click here to view the science camp contract.
Enrollment Update
Cambrian staff updated the Governing Board on the current District enrollment, impact at school sites, and the overall implication to the budget. Options were discussed for how to move our educational program forward and remain fiscally solvent (positive certification) for the next three years. Presently, there are 2,986 students in the Cambrian School District.

Budget: 2020-21 Unaudited Actuals
The Board of Trustees accept the Unaudited Financial Statements for the 2020-21 fiscal year and the report that will be filed with the County Superintendent of Schools. Education Code Section 42100 states that the Governing Board of each school district shall approve, in a format prescribed by the Superintendent of Public Instruction, an annual statement of all receipts and expenditures of the district for the preceding fiscal year and shall file the statement with the County Superintendent of Schools.

Board Policy: Intradistrict Transfers Policy and Procedure 5116.1 (Annual Review)
The Governing Board opted to move the Intradistrict Transfers Policy and Procedure 5116.1 (Revised) from consent to Agenda item 8.7. Language regarding lottery priorities section VII A and C were discussed and language was added to include priority to siblings of students graduating 5th or 8th grade in the year the request is made. Intradistrict Transfers Policy and Procedure 5116.1 (revised) will be added to the consent agenda at the next regular Board Meeting, held Oct. 7.

Resolution 21-22-01: Sufficiency of Instructional Materials
The Governing Board approved Resolution 21-22-01: Sufficiency of Instructional Materials for the 2021-22 school year. In order to be eligible to receive instructional materials funds, the Governing Board of each district and county office of education is required to hold an annual public hearing and adopt a resolution stating whether each pupil in the district has sufficient textbooks or instructional materials in specified subjects that are aligned to the academic content standards and consistent with the content and cycles of the curriculum frameworks adopted by the state board. The Cambrian School District has provided each pupil with sufficient textbooks and instructional materials consistent with the cycles and content of the curriculum frameworks.

Resolution 21-22-02: Appropriations Limit (Gann Limit)
The Board voted to adopt Resolution 21-22-02: 2020-2021 Appropriations Limit, which declares that the appropriations for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 fiscal years do not exceed the limitations imposed by Proposition 4 (1979).
As required by Proposition 4 (1979), the District must establish a revised Gann - Appropriations Limit for the 2020-2021 fiscal year and a projected Gann Limit for the 2021-2022 fiscal year. In doing this, the Board must declare that the appropriations for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 fiscal years do not exceed the limitations imposed by Proposition 4 (1979).
Staff provided the Gann Limit Calculation for the Board of Trustees to review, in a format approved by the State of California.
Based on the forms attached detailing the Gann - Appropriations Limit Calculation, the district is in compliance with the limitations imposed by Proposition 4 (1979).
Measure R: Change Order Process
The Governing Board approved the change order process in regard to Measure R improvements. Change orders are a common part of any construction project and allows a written scope of work change to the contract without invalidating the original construction contract.
Mr. Stephen Corl, Chief Financial Officer, will review the current change order process for Measure R projects based on prior bond measures.

The Governing Board approved the warrant list for August.
Next Board Meeting
A Special Board Meeting will be held Thursday, Sept. 30 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be a Board Workshop and is open to the public. Meetings are held in person at the Professional Development Center located at 4115 Jacksol Drive, San Jose 95124 in Building 7, and can be viewed online as well. Agenda and login information will be available the week of the Oct. 7 meeting. The meeting is open to the public.
