Mooresville Graded School District

A glimpse at the good stuff happening in our schools!

Happy Thanksgiving from us to you!

What's New at Park View?

Students at Park View Elementary are learning reading, writing, and math while also learning about Thanksgiving! Check out all of the learning taking place! #GobbleGobble

Thankfulness and Manners at RRES!

We have a LOT to be thankful for at Rocky River Elementary! We realized how much last week when we took the time to fellowship with one another during our annual Manners Luncheon. We set the mood with special lighting, beautiful decorations, and music was provided by our very own Mrs. Campbell! The students prepared for the luncheon by participating in manners units in both Special Interest and Character Kids classes with Mrs. Cubert and Mrs. Montgomery. To top it all off, the kids were surprised to be served in the cafeteria by their very own principal, Dr. LaRusso! A good time was had by all! Thank you to our assistant principal, Mrs. Earnhardt, for planning such a special event for our Racer family!

Giving Thanks and Enjoying a Feast at South Elementary!

We are so thankful for our South Stars! South was thankful for so much in November from our Veterans to each other! After learning about the history of Thanksgiving and its cultural elements, our South Kinders celebrated with a Thanksgiving feast! Take a look at our little Stars in action!

It was Fall Family Fun night at EMIS!

From service projects to a math room, EMIS students and families enjoyed a fun fall evening! Check it all out in the video!

It's not fiction that MIS students have been having fun reading!

MIS students have been busy exploring our newly arranged fiction section during their Media Enhancement time. Originally organized alphabetically by the author’s last name, Ms. Thoennes and Ms. Faucher (along with many parent and student volunteers) have worked hard to reorganize the fiction section of our library by genre. This will help our students find new books to read more easily based on the genres they already like! It will also help them branch out into exploring new genres as well!

Also happening over the past couple of weeks, our 6th grade classes participated in a digital scavenger hunt using the GooseChase app! What a great way to engage students!

MMS honors Veterans!

Mooresville Middle School students honored local veterans during November. The MMS Chorus students visited Richard's Coffee Shop, performed, and spent time talking with the veterans. On Friday, November 9, all MMS students had the opportunity to hear several veterans speak during the "Honor Through Respect and Knowledge" event. The students not only enjoyed the speakers, but they made some meaningful connections, too!

The MHS Blue Devil Update

Every week students put together a newscast that is broadcast throughout the school. It's informational, educational, and funny! Here is a sample from last week's Mooresville High School BDU!

Thanksgiving Family Fun

Make a Thankful Tree this holiday break. It is simple and fun for all ages! Simply cut out some colorful leaves and have each family member or guest write something they are thankful for on the leaf before sticking it on the tree. For more ideas and complete directions, follow this link:

Perfect Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin pie is a Thanksgiving favorite! Not only is it yummy, it is also a great recipe for the kids to help make! Let them stir the filling or use tiny cookie cutters to cut out leaves and decorate the top. They can even practice math and science with measuring! It will be a perfect time making a perfect pie! :-)
