Principal Message

Dear Sequoia Families,

It's hard to believe we've experienced a week like this, yet again. I know many of you were hunkered down for many days without power and several have been out of town altogether. I have been thinking of all of you this week, hoping for the best and so grateful for all the first responders and helpers we have in our community. Please know that while school is not in session for the remainder of this week, we are working to make sure school is ready and safe for students to return next week.

We know that students will be missing our annual Halloween parade. As a way to still celebrate and have some fun we will have a Spirit Day next Friday, November 8th. Students are encouraged to dress up in costume or in all green, Sequoia style! We will not do our Halloween parade but we will have community recess so students can check out the fun. Our Fall Fun Fest is still happening after school from 3-6pm as well. We have bumped up the fun with a few extra surprises and will continue to have activities, games and the Pumpkin Fairy Godmother is still planning to come read stories and grant wishes! This is a free event courtesy of SPC. We would love to see you all there! (Not a drop off event, please plan to accompany your child)

I am thinking of all of you as we get back to some kind of normal this weekend and will be glad to see you and your children back on campus soon!

Mrs. Clark

Air quality precautions when returning to school

When we return to school, I will be using airnow.gov to monitor air quality and decide if we need to switch to a "rainy day schedule". I will check this website hourly, so this can occur at any time throughout the school day.

A Rainy Day/Smoky Day Schedule Can Include:

  • Before school - students inside the multipurpose room
  • During recesses - students inside classrooms, library, computer lab or portables
  • During lunch - students inside the multipurpose room
  • PE - students will be in classrooms, portables or the multipurpose room
  • After school - students will wait in the school office or multipurpose room until the bus or parent/guardian arrive.

Please don't hesitate to be in touch with any questions or concerns.

Mrs. Clark
