Dale Carnegie Excellence Continues
Congratulations to these students for taking the time to complete this rigorous program that will pay dividends in the future! Special thanks to the Independence Board of Education and the City of Independence for supporting this most worthwhile endeavor!
An AMAZING Autumn Sports Season!
The Volleyball team won its 5th consecutive CVC league title, and they won their first-ever regional championship at Barberton. The team qualified for the Final Four at Wright State University to compete for the state title. This is the farthest that any I.H.S. Volleyball squad has ever gone in post-season play!
Both soccer teams had outstanding fall campaigns. The Girls' Soccer team won sectional championship, and the Boys' Soccer team won its 3rd consecutive CVC title, and they took home a district championship, winning it on a bitterly cold day in Berea!
The Girls' Cross Country team also had an outstanding season, as they won a district championship and competed in the regionals at Boardman. The team is very young, and it has a bright future ahead.
We are VERY proud of all of our fall sports programs this year! Thanks to all of our athletes, coaches, parents, and fans for making this a memorable fall season, and for the great school spirit that we have!
Remembering Ally
Our I.H.S. family suffered a tremendous loss in November, as Allison Suhy, Class of 2017, passed away suddenly. Ally represented everything that is great about our school. Her engaging personality, school spirit, and commitment to her studies earned her the respect and admiration of her peers and staff. She has left a positive, permanent imprint on our school, and she will never be forgotten. Ally will be deeply missed by all. We offer our deepest sympathy and love to the Suhy family and all of Ally’s friends.
Donations can be made in Ally’s memory to: autismspeaks.org/allisonsuhy
