Principal's Message
Dear Geist Elementary families,
I can't believe that we are only five weeks away from the end of school. What an amazing year we have had!
In looking to next year, we were just recently notified by Ningbo China that our sister school will not be able to visit in August. They were not able to organize their paperwork in time to take to their government. Therefore they were not able to move forward with visas. We are going to continue our process of connecting with our sister school and plan for visits the following summer! I know we are all disappointed they won't be able to visit this year. Good things come to those who wait!
We have one additional week left in ISTEP testing. Results do not come out until the end of summer/start of next school year. We will keep you informed as to when the results arrive.
In just one week the nation will be celebrating Staff Appreciation week. This is such a wonderful time to allow your children to share with their teacher what their teacher means to them. We have an amazing and hard-working staff. Please know a short thank you note goes a long way in the life of an educator!
I hope the sun continues to shine brightly! Get out there and enjoy a nice long walk with your children!
Thank you for sharing your children with us each and every day!

SchoolKidz Supply Kit Order Forms for students attending GES in 2017-2018. Orders due by May 3.
Your SchoolKidz order form was sent home this week. SchoolKidz is the school supply kit that is delivered to your child’s classroom for the first day of school. No running from store to store looking for the right supplies, it’s all done for you. The SchoolKidz supply list is chosen by the teachers so the kit contains the exact supplies needed for the classroom, plus a few shared supplies (Kleenex, baggies, wipes, etc…) for school wide use. Each grade level kit is $35. (Each kit is $35= $30 grade level supplies + $5 convenience fee which provides additional school wide shared supplies).
This year all orders will be placed online at www.shopttkits.com (use account number 32455) until May 3. Please contact Sarah Tappendorf stappendorf@hse.k12.in.us with any questions.
*This is a service provided by the GES PTO for students attending GES for 2017-2018.

PTO Updates the Staff Lounge
The GES staff sends a big THANK YOU to our fantastic PTO for updating the staff lounge. Some much-needed updates were added to the décor, along with a coffee machine and coffee, tea and hot chocolate pods, and a snack bin. Krista Rexroth, Christel Pardo and Kristi Perozzi developed a plan and with Amy Coombs worked hard a couple of afternoons to put it together. The Geist PTO does great things at our school for our students and staff. We appreciate the efforts and donations from all of our families!
