Hades is the god of the dead and of the underworld. He also owns all of the riches of the riches of the Earth, all gold and metals. He is often called "The Rich One", because of this, he is also called "The Hospitable One" because he allows all souls into the underworld. Hades was a feared god among the mortal world. The only place is ever worshipped is in Elis.
Hades is apart of the first generation of Olympians. His weapon of power was made by Cyclops, it is a helmet that makes the wearer invisible. In the underworld he has many demon like creature that help him. Some of them are Thantos, Charon, Hypnos, and the three headed guard dog Cerberus.
The Abduction of Persephone
The abduction of the goddess Persephone is the most famous and well known story of Hades. In this story Hades kidnaps Persephone while she is in a garden and takes her down to the underworld in his golden chariot. However Zeus made Hades return her, but Hades tricked Persephone into eating a pomegranate seed that forces her to stay in the underworld for a time each year.
