Viking Staff Newsletter
Week 13 - Nov. 11-15
Action Required and Deadlines
From the Principal's Desk
- CLT - Campus Leadership Team will meet on Wednesday, 3:30, in the parent involvement room. If your team has any questions or concerns, will the team lead please let me know so we can address at this meeting?
- Norwood Veteran's Day Program will be on Thursday at 7:35 during our Morning Meeting. Please plan on it lasting 15-20 minutes.
- Food Drive goes through Wednesday. Totals for the first week of collection will be announced on Monday. Is your grade level going to win the pizza party?
- We are in need of a staff member to take care of our morning crossing guard duties. Are you willing and available? 7:15-7:40 am at Evelyn and Gardens. Please contact Christy.
- Lamps in your classrooms - ALL lamps must be turned off every night. I don't think this has been addressed before, but we need to take care of it. Mainly about energy use, but could also be a fire hazard should something happen. Thanks!
- Lost and Found - Thank you for putting coats and lunch boxes in the lost and found. Will you go one step further and hang up the coats as long as there are hangers? Several coats in there had names in them. Please check for that first.
Digital Citizenship
Learning Technologies is continuing to provide resources for state mandated instruction on digital citizenship. The theme for November is Relationships and Communication. Links to the November digital citizenship curriculum folders (by grade levels) are included below. As always, LT Coaches are available to answer any questions you may have.

PD for the week! I just read an article on Effective Classroom Management Strategies, hoping that someone had discovered new strategies that are foolproof. Well, we all know that is never going to happen. However, this article did remind the reader that these 3 things make the most difference in students meeting behavior expectations. Effective Strategies must:
1. Be easy for teachers to implement and for students to understand
2. Focus on creating a positive culture
3. Celebrate students who are meeting or exceeding classroom expectations.
Just bringing back into focus your Treatment Agreements and encouraging you to notice all the students who ARE showing Norwood Viking excellent behavior.

Let's try this again!!! My RtI calendar is now updated and should be correct from now on. PLC time this week will be designated to creating data walls for each grade level. Cards, with student information, have already been created. For 1st -5th, you will want to have current reading levels.
