Tips for 1:1 iPad Integration - October 13, 2015
Below is a link to a Dropbox folder of lesson ideas that fit this theme. Feel free to take parts of these lessons and make them fit your students.I am available at any time to help you in the planning or executing of your STEM activities. There are suggested grade levels on all of the lessons, but we can certainly adapt them up or down to fit all of you. I will continue to add materials that I find to this folder throughout the year.
Also if you need help gathering materials, let me know and I will do my best to help!
Digital Citizenship Lessons
Here are the October lessons I am suggesting. I think it might make sense to start looking at how to search for information. For K-2, try "ABC Searching" or "Using Keywords." For 3-5, I would highly recommend "The Key to Keywords."
Remember that it is my goal for all of you to be certified digital citizenship educators by Common Sense Media by the end of this year. If you let me know when you teach the lessons, I will know when you are ready to apply for this certification!
Looking Forward to Parent Conferences
- Share Edmodo with you parents. Every child has a unique parent code. The parents can use this code to create an Edmodo account and keep up with what their child is doing!
- Share Common Sense Media with your parents. They will be very happy to know that we are teaching digital citizenship here at school. Even better yet, they might use the site to teach a little digital citizenship at home - or at least to check out tv shows, movies, video games, etc for age appropriateness.
Some Interesting Sites to Consider - Even If My Students Don't Have iPads Yet

Ethan the Scarecrow
That's Ethan sitting in the chair. If you go to the fair, be sure and stop by to see him. Mrs. Keenan's class built him out of all recycled materials.
Animoto Poems about Food Chains
Mrs. Horton's class is working hard with their iPads. In this lesson, they are turning food chain poems into movies using Animoto. Let me know if you'd like to learn how to do this.
Walk at School Day
Not exactly tech related (although we did have a drone flying overhead and taking pictures), but it certainly was a great morning for walking! Thanks to Coach I and Nurse O'Dell for organizing this event!
