Happenings in the DVRHS Media Center

Happy fall! As we begin to settle into our autumn routines and schedules, the Media Center has something for everyone: new resources, helpful links, and of course, great reads. Scroll down to find out this month's highlights!

Hispanic Heritage Month: September 15 - October 15

The Media Center celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month by showcasing some of the most popular YA Latinx authors and titles. Stop by to browse the full collection or search for your next great read using Destiny Discover and the Sora app!

Banned Books Week: September 26-October 2

The week of September 26-October 2 announces the arrival of Banned Books Week, a yearly week of awareness that champions the freedom to read. This year's theme is "Books Unite Us. Censorship Divides Us." Our celebration will be virtual, with daily updates on Twitter and Instagram about unique past challenges. Check out the list of the Top Ten Most Challenged Books Lists to see how many challenged books you have read!

FREE Time Management Resource from Nepris

Are you struggling with managing your time now that the school year has started? For many of us, we haven't experienced a "normal" school year in over a year and a half. If you feel as though you could benefit from some time management tips and tricks, check out this Nepris video by Kelvina Burrell.

College and Career Info Available!

Did you know that the Media Center has print brochures from many colleges and universities available to peruse? Interested students can stop by to browse the collection. If you don't have a study hall and need to come up during unit lunch, fill out the Unit Lunch Pass Request Form and a day or week pass will be sent to you.

The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal digital access RENEWED!

Back by popular demand, DVRHS staff and students have digital access to both The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. If you signed up for digital access for The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal last year, it will work the same way. Freshmen and transfer students will be receiving an email with directions on how to login to these valuable resources, so stay tuned and check your email!
