PEP 2024-2025 School Year
We are happy to announce that we will be accepting applications for our Preschool Education Program (PEP) for the 2024-2025 school year. PEP offers prekindergarten classes and services for children with disabilities ages 3–5 in an early childhood setting for children with and without disabilities. If you choose to enroll your child, he/she will be in an inclusive class with other students with and without disabilities. Classes are 5 days per week for 2.5 hours per day. The cost is $150 per semester or $300 per year. The class is taught by a certified MCPS teacher. There is a para educator in the class to assist. The class follows a PreK Curriculum. Priority is given to children that reside in the local school boundary. Your child must be 3 years old on or before the first day of school for PEP (please check the MCPS website for the official start date. It is usually a week after school starts for grades K-5). Due to the anticipated high numbers of applicants, enrollment will be based on a lottery system. Applications will be accepted through the month of March and assignments will be made in late April. You will be contacted in late April or early May if you are awarded placement in the program. Although a wait list will be created with the names of applicants not originally placed, please have back up plans for Pre-School, as there are a limited number of openings.
Applications are available on the MCPS website by typing "community peers" into the search box or via this link:

Dear Families,
Hopefully all our Wonderful Wildcats enjoyed their snow days! My boys have been waiting for two years to play in the snow and go sledding - they finally had that chance!
The downside to our week of snow was the cancellation of Bingo Night on Friday. This is an important event because it raises funds for our 5th Graders and their promotion, so we are working with the 5th Grade team on a rescheduled date for Bingo. Tickets for Bingo Night are sold out and families who are already registered will receive priority to attend on the new date. If spots become available, we will fill them on a first come, first served basis. If you are interested in adding your family to the waitlist, please contact president@wwespta.org.
We have an important message to share from our yearbook team. Thank you so much for all the photos you have shared with us so far - please keep them coming! The yearbook team is asking all families to please be sure to tag your photos and identify the names of the students in them. We have a lot of students we are trying to identify and it’s a tedious process. Utilizing the tagging and entering the names & grades of the students in your photos will help us significantly!
If you are a member of the PTA, you receive a student directory as one of the benefits to joining the PTA. Directories were labeled and distributed to teachers at the end of last week to be sent home with your students in their take-home folders. There’s still time to join the PTA! If you would like to become a member and receive your own Wims directory, you can join the PTA on our website at wwespta.org.
After-school programming begins this week – thank you to all who have signed up! Please make special note of the day of the week for the class your student is registered for – we hope they enjoy them.
Have a Wonderful Wildcat Week!
