STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
All South Jersey Orchestra
We are pleased to announce that FOUR students from Fernwood Avenue Middle School orchestra performed in the All South Jersey Orchestra this past Sunday. Carmela Werleman, Monica Ramos, Melanie Susanna Paulino and Lauren Do all auditioned last month and were accepted. These four students, plus one Alder student (Samantha Ho) were the only middle school orchestra students in Atlantic County to audition and get in. This is a huge accomplishment and we are very proud of them from representing us. #EHTPRIDE!
Exploring Ratios
This week Ms. Fessman's Burgundy math classes used the scientific method to explore ratios. Students created a hypothesis and followed specific procedures in order to answer the question, "In a box of Fruit Loops, how do the numbers of each color compare?". Data was collected, compared, and discussed in this math & science hybrid activity.
Sound in Film
Mrs. Howell's Media class learned about Jack Foley and the art of sound in film! Take a look.

Girls Basketball Team
The Fernwood Girl’s Basketball team won the season’s home opener against Lower Cape May with a score of 30-18! A strong 1-3-1 defense by all shut down Lower’s offense and led to easy transition baskets for the Eagles. Mariah Newman, Taison Parker, Kayden Senior, and Sam Battersby all contributed points to lead the team to victory. Wish the girls luck as they play Middle and Bridgeton later in the week!
On Thursday, the Fernwood Girl’s Basketball team lost a tough game to Middle with a score of 36-26. After a tough first half, the girls turned it around in the second half to bring the game within reach. Taison Parker did a fabulous job taking over as point guard today, calling out plays, starting an offensive attack, and crashing the boards. Caitlin Harding worked to help spark an offensive attack and had some great rebounds. Shout out to Kayli McNulty for stepping up and guarding Middle’s best offensive player. The girls are looking to bounce back with a win over Bridgeton!
