Kay Granger Elementary
Counselor's Corner
Welcome!
Welcome to the Granger Counselor's Corner! We are excited to begin a new year together here at Granger Elementary. We have a lot of exciting events to look forward to and topics to learn about as the year continues. Our students continue to show their character every day at school, at home, and in our community. This six weeks our character trait is CITIZENSHIP! We are proud to be a National School of Character. Thanks for checking out the newsletter this month!
Lights of Love
Thank you for your generous donations to LIGHTS OF LOVE! Our items from Lights of Love go to Community Storehouse to help children and families who need extra gloves, hats, and scarves to stay warm this winter. We appreciate the giving spirit at Granger Elementary and know you all make a difference every single day!
Healthy vs. Harmful Choices
Our guidance lessons recently have focused on the difference in healthy and harmful choices. We talked about how healthy choices start NOW and stay with us as we continue to grow older! These could include making healthy food choices, having a good attitude, brushing our teeth, exercising, showing kindness, washing our hands, and many more! We also discussed harmful choices and what these could do to our bodies. In K-3 we did an experiment with water bottles and food coloring to show the difference in healthy and harmful choices. In 4-5 we played jeopardy to discuss the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol and how to stand up for what is right!
Granger Resolutions!
Happy New Year! At Granger Elementary we are continually growing and learning. A new year is a great time to discuss different goals and resolutions we want to continue to grow in. As students come back to school, we handed out "Granger Resolutions" with tips and ideas of what students could do to start the new year off on a positive note! We also had a great time celebrating the holidays together!

If you are new to Granger, WELCOME!! We are so excited to have you as a part of the Granger family. Please feel free to contact the counselor, Ms. Borg, if you have questions or are uncertain about the transition from your student's old school to Granger.
