Attendance and Engagement Policy
It is important that all of you know the attendance and engagement policy which is in the Parent/Student Handbook. To summarize that policy, all students must be showing progress in coursework each week. If they do not, that is considered an unexcused absence. If an absence should be excused due to a family vacation or something else, please notify your student's Learning Coach so that absence will be excused.
As a parent, it is your responsibility to make sure that your student is making progress.
As a student, it is your responsibility to make sure that you are doing your coursework.
As a student accumulates unexcused absences, the school will follow the policy that has been established. The last step of the policy is student withdrawal from MVV.

Mental Health Moment
Hi everyone! Happy January! We are at the end of a month where almost everyone makes a resolution to do something better in the new year. There are a lot of different goals that people create during the month of January such as losing weight, making more money or becoming more organized. According to Psychology Today, 50% of adults will make a new year’s resolution. But, then after one week 22% fail and after one month 40% fail to meet their goal.
So what can you do differently? Experts tell us to create an “attainable goal” to be successful. An “attainable goal” is one that you create and that you can meet. The first step is to decided what area you want to work on. So let’s say you are not as far along in your classes as you want, make a goal that can be achieved such as “I want to finish 2 units of social studies this week.” Then you build time into your week to achieve this goal, so write down in your google calendar (you know how much your educators love those!) a specific time you are going to work on social studies, such as “ I will work on social studies from 9-10am Monday through Friday.” That is a very easy goal to meet and when you get done at the end of the week reward yourself with something fun such as watching a funny you tube video, going to see a movie or whatever that is safe and makes you feel happy. Each time you meet your goal, it is easier to create more goals that you can achieve. Remember you are in charge of your destiny and creating a goal helps you to move forward.
So start your journey, move forward and meet some goals. And as always if you are finding school or even life overwhelming give me a call at (970) 460-4132. Till next month!
