Southside All Pro Dad: Wednesday, September 27th at 6:45AM
A Message from the Southside All Pro Dad Captain Chris Gaither: We are a group of Dads, father figures and positive male role models dedicated to strengthening our relationship with our kids and we would love for you to join us. Our All Pro Dad is on Wednesday, September 27th from 6:45AM-7:15AM with breakfast following in the cafeteria. This is an opportunity for all of our Southside Dads/Father Figures to spend some time with your student(s) and grab breakfast! Southside Health Screening Day
If you are an Approved Volunteer and would like to volunteer to help with screenings we would love to have you! Lunch will be on us! Please email: Beth Cathcart at: mailto:beth.cathcart@shelby.kyschools.us or call to let us know you would like to help out! Screenings will start after our Friday morning meeting at 8:00AM-11:45PM.
Southside PTO Mother-Son Bonfire
Cost: $10.00 per family pre-paid or $12.00 at the door (whether you have one son or many sons)
The cost of admission includes: drinks, s'mores, playgrounds, cornfield and soyfield maze walks, tug-o-war against moms and glow sticks!
*Grandmother/Aunt/etc are welcome instead if Mom can't make it!
RSVPs are due by September 22nd. Cash or check made payable to Southside PTO.
Please watch for the registration to come home with your student in the following days!
SCPS Community Forums: Profile of a Graduate
Shelby County Public Schools announces five public forums hosted by your elected Board of Education members. All meetings begin at 6:30. COME JOIN US!

Childcare for Fall Break
- September 5th-15th (current day care students)
- September 18th-22nd (open enrollment)
Our daycare will be open from 7:00AM-6:00PM daily and will be located at Clear Creek Elementary (Door 17). Please note that all children must be in the building by 9:00AM. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack will be provided.
Activities include: Center time, fall arts and crafts, gym/outside time, computer time, science experiments.
Cost: $20.00 per day. You will be required to pay even if you choose not to come on the days that you mark as not coming on the application.
*If you are not a current daycare member you will be required to fill out a registration form and obtain a copy of your child's immunization form before they can attend.
To enroll for Fall Break please contact Southside Tiger Academy. Enrollment applications will be coming home with our students.

Each year, since 2005, girls from all over Kentucky have visited the University of Kentucky College of Engineering for a one day event to explore the fun behind STEM. GEMS is a collaboration between the University of Kentucky and the Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road Council. GEMS is not only an opportunity for girls to gain hands on experience from local STEM related experts in their field, most workshops are facilitated by women mentors. Come discover why GEMS is such a ‘joule!’ GEMS is a chance to teach girls about:
· Careers in science
· The Scientific Method
· Science in daily life
· How much math and science are connected
Girls do not need to be a Girl Scout to attend!

SCCT Academy Presents: Children's Acting Classes
Shelby County Community Theatre’s SCCT Academy
is pleased to offer two installments of children’s acting classes for Fall 2017
SCCT Academy for Entry Level Actors
This course is dedicated to the beginning actor, or those who wish to gain more entry-level experience on stage. Class is open to children ages 8-15. Cost of attendance is $100 for the six-week session. Classes will meet each Tuesday September 26th – October 24th and Monday October 30th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The final Showcase will take place alongside the Advanced Actors course on Monday, October 30th at 7:00.
SCCT Academy for Advanced Young Actors
This class is dedicated to the actor with some level of experience on stage or in a class who wish to seriously pursue improvement and development
in their acting abilities. Class is open to children ages 10-15. Cost of
attendance is $100 for the six-week session. Classes will meet Wednesday September 27th from 6:30-8:30, Wednesday October 4th from 6:30-8:30, Tuesday October 10th from 5:00-7:00, Wednesday October 18th and 25th from 6:30-8:30, and Monday October 30th from 5:00-7:00. The final Showcase will take place alongside the Entry Level Actors course on Monday October 30th at 7:00 p.m.
There is a cap of 12 students for each class.
A showcase of all talent participating in both sessions of SCCT Academy will take place at 7:00 PM on Monday October 30th on the Theatre’s Mainstage.
