Updates from the Principal
Good Afternoon Firebird Nation Families -
Happy Friday and Happy Halloween! Thank you for working with us on the schedule adjustment this week. It was great to see all of our students for two days this week! We have learned from the district that future snow days will likely be called as E-Days. This would mean that students would follow the regular bell schedule from home and participate in E-Learning from their teachers if there was a weather closure.
Our PBIS Rewards program has launched! Staff have been trained on using our Firebird RISE Matrix to award points to students for demonstrating how they RISE each day. Overall, I am hearing a lot of positive feedback from students about the app and the points they are earning. The store will launch in the next couple of weeks as well. There are some items in there for students to see what they can earn. The "prices"posted may change as we are making updates to the app. Once the store officially launches, we will let students know. Students should receive their ID's next week (we had a delay from the picture company) so that they can use additional functions with the app.
We wanted to put some reminders out about our traffic pattern since we have returned from break. Please remember to use extra caution when traveling around FMS. Students should always be using the designated crosswalks when walking around FMS. We have also received some calls about traffic stopping on Towner Ave, cars blocking intersections, and blocking neighborhood driveways. We want to make sure we are being good neighbors to our community and respecting the roads and neighborhood areas at all times. For our traffic pattern within the school, we appreciated the feedback about making a new video to show how this pattern works. You can see this video below.
Beginning next Friday, November 6th, we will be starting our student success time. Students that have multiple D's and F's and that are struggling with their academic work will have the opportunity, within their cohorts, to come to FMS between 10am and 12pm or 1pm and 3pm to get some additional help from their teachers. Teams will be communicating with families next week if student success time is needed for your student on Friday. We want to provide an opportunity to ensure students can perform at their best academically. There will also be some opportunities through Zoom for students staying at home as well.
I hope everyone has a great weekend! Happy Halloween! Oh...don't forget to set your clocks back this weekend as well!
Sincerely,
Brian Smith

PTSA UPDATES
PTSA is thankful for our members and we want to show our appreciation. If you become a member by Thanksgiving, you will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card. There are two ways to join:
- Send in $8 (per member) with cash or check (made payable to Falcon MS PTSA) to the front office.
- Join online at https://falconmsptsa.new.memberhub.store/store?category=Memberships
(Please note that using online payment, the PTSA will be charged a service fee, so a donation would be appreciated to offset that cost.)
Check out another way to support your PTSA! It's a giveback program! You shop and a portion is returned to the PTSA. Check it out: https://falconmsptsa.new.memberhub.store/admin/campaigns
There is also an opportunity to order Spirit Wear, t-shirts for $10 and hoodies for $25. Again, cash or check may be sent to the front office or ordered online: https://falconmsptsa.new.memberhub.store/store
