Spirit Rock Information...Rent your Spot Today!
Say hello to SPIRIT ROCK! This is PTA's newest addition to the North Elementary campus. The rock is a fun way for parents, students and staff to get involved. It is simple, rent the rock for a single day or multiple days. You can use it to advertise a business or event, wish your child a happy birthday, thank a teacher, or just spend time with your little one creating art! The students will love to see the rock changing throughout the year and gives them one more thing they can look forward to when they arrive at school each morning. Celebrating Healthy Lifestyles Month
National PTA is dedicated to improving the health and wellness of families across the country because we know leading a healthy lifestyle is a key component to our students' success. HALLSVILLE NORTH PTA is proud to announce we are 1 of 25 grant winners through the National PTA & Nestlé Waters! Only 8 percent of applicants received grants! Celebrate healthy lifestyles at school, and at home during Healthy Lifestyles Month in November. The PTA will have activities, nutritional information & lots of fun educational surprises as we celebrate this month! If you can help by volunteering during our healthy lifestyles month celebration, please reach out to Jennifer Smallwood North PTA VP Of Programs at jennifersmallwood@gmail.com
1. Name: Tiffany Minyard
2. Position at North: 2nd Grade Teacher
3. College: Sam Houston State University
4.How Many Years in the school system: This is my 13th year in education. I taught 3rd grade in Magnolia ISD my first year. I then taught 3rd grade in Longview ISD for two years. I have been in Hallsville for ten years now. I stayed home with my children for a short time after they were each born.
5. Beach or Mountains: This is such a tough one, because I love them both. I would have to say the mountains though. My family loves being outdoors, hiking, and the views you have in the mountains can't be beat!
6. Favorite Meal & Dessert (details!): Mexican food! I am a creature of habit and love cheese enchiladas, rice and beans. It can be from anywhere! I do love Casa Ole's green sauce the best though! Dessert...can I just say that I love all sweets? I would have to say homemade blackberry cobbler would be a favorite for sure though!
7. Random Fact: I worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for five years before finishing up my teaching degree. I actually met my husband while working in the prison system! (He worked there too just in case you were wondering!)
8. A Favorite North Memory: My favorite North memory would be each year when our Christmas tree comes out. Years ago, the tradition was started for every new employee to hang an ornament that represents you on the tree. It is so sweet to look at the ornaments and see the names of friends who are no longer working here. It just brings back wonderful memories of friends that used to be here.
9. Favorite Thanksgiving memory: My favorite Thanksgiving memory is an ongoing tradition. My husband is a police officer and my brother is a fireman/EMT so they always have crazy schedules and typically work on holidays. My parents started renting a large cabin in Broken Bow for a three day weekend before Thanksgiving. My entire family goes up, parents, siblings and their children. There are 14 of us all together. We cook our Thanksgiving meal up there and just love it! The cousins are all very close in age and they look forward to this weekend all year long.
We are 17% of the way to our goal of twelve trees for our playground! Actual tree(s) are pictured that North will be getting from Cathy at RCB Gardens.
These amazing trees are 12 feet tall! They will provide some shade immediately, but a canopy will grow and provide even more in years to come! We are still fundraising for the installation as well as for 10 more trees.
Thank you to the Honea family and to Elizabeth Schirmer and family for purchasing our first two trees!!
If you would like to donate please visit https://www.hallsvillenorthpta.com/donate.
Detailed Explanation: $375.30 is our total after submitting our clipped boxtops plus the digital scans. We will also have an additional $213 carryover from the 2018-2019 school year that will be added to our December check. Our December check will be close to $600 which is great!
It could go even higher as we scan in more receipts into the app! Please take the time to download the app on family members phones and walk them through the process of scanning receipts. It takes less than five minutes.
Please keep sending in your clipped boxtops in a ziploc bag with students name, grade, and teacher or attached to a collection sheet as we still get credit for those until they expire!

Penguin Patch Holiday Shop is coming to North Elementary December 2nd-6th! This will be a fun and exciting opportunity for students. They will be able to shop for gifts for their mom, dad, grandparent, siblings and loved ones. Gift prices start at just 25 cents and almost every gift is under $3! Children love the independence they feel from shopping on their own. Parents, when you open your gift, you will get to see how proud your child is to have hand picked a gift for you! We love this holiday season at North Elementary and look forward to seeing your child at the Penguin Patch Holiday Shop. More information will be sent home soon.
