Crockett Students Resume Following Their Schedule

Crockett Cougars,

Since Austin is now out of Stage 5 and our teachers have returned from teaching remotely, all Crockett students are now following their normal schedule and getting support from their scheduled teachers. If your student is struggling to pass their classes, we encourage you to send your student back to campus. Please contact your child's assistant principal (see chart at bottom of the newsletter for your child's cohort contacts) to let them know they will be returning to campus. We are looking forward to helping your child in person if that suits your family. Additionally, we want to remind all students to wear a mask while they are on campus. Spring break is almost here and, when we get back from break, the end of the school year will be here before you know it. Crockett ECHS is here to partner with you to ensure each child is Always Victorious!

Sending you all health and happiness,

Kori Crawford

Principal

Crockett ECHS

Austin ISD Values your opinion

Austin ISD Families,

Austin ISD is encouraging parents and guardians to take the annual Austin ISD Family Survey. This is a great opportunity for you to provide feedback about your child's school and the ways you and school staff work together to provide a great education for your child. Due to COVID-19, it is especially important this year to provide your opinion to ensure we are providing a great experience for you and your child.

The survey is available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Arabic. Please click the link below to assess the survey: https://tinyurl.com/AISD-Family-Survey-2021.

We hope you will take the time to share your thoughts with us. Your response is very important and is completely confidential. Take the online survey by March 12. Please take the survey only once per child.

ASVAB Exam

Crockett will be offering a free administration of the ASVAB exam on campus on Tuesday, March 9th at 9am for students in grades 10-12. The ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude test that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. If you are interested in pursuing a career in the military or would simply like to know which jobs might be available to you within a military setting, we invite you to sign up to take the ASVAB. Please note, there is no military obligation and no cost for this exam. This exam will only be offered in-person at Crockett; no virtual administration is available at this time.

Join us on Zoom on Tuesday, March 9 at 7pm to celebrate and listen to the premiere of our recording of the song "Stand Up" from the soundtrack of the movie Harriet. This is a collaborative project between Crockett HS Choir, Bedichek MS Choir, and Covington MS Choir. We welcome guardians, parents, family members, staff, and students from all 3 school communities to attend!

Spring 2021 TSI Testing

11th & 12th grade Crockett students are eligible to sign up for Saturday TSI testing this spring. The TSI is the Texas College Readiness exam; passing the TSI demonstrates your readiness to enroll in college-level coursework. There are two sections to the exam: ELA (reading & writing multiple choice with an essay) and Math (math multiple choice).

Testing will be offered on Saturdays at 9am both virtually (via Zoom) and in-person at Crockett (district COVID restrictions permitting). All students, whether in person or virtual, will need to have their own computer for testing. Students testing virtually need to have a working camera and audio functions on their device and be able to share their screen through Zoom.

Use the following link to sign up for testing: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040a49a8a622a6fc1-spring

We are proud of our National Merit Finalist!

Samuel Zinn was selected as a National Merit Finalist! This is a huge national honor, awarded to about 15,000 students across the country for academics and top PSAT scores. It comes with a small scholarship, but most colleges end up matching the scholarship or offering their own financial incentives as well. Definitely a big accomplishment, let's congratulate Samuel!

Way to go Lady Coogs!
