Good Morning GREEN Educational Partners,
We had a fantastic time during the Open Spring House event. Thank you for participating and supporting your students.
Please note that starting this Monday, March 27, students will participate in getting to know the CAASPP Test. Every morning your student must first report to their 4th-period class during the week of 3/27/23 - 3/31/23. The focus of the practice test has been on helping students to feel confident as test takers. While taking independent practice tests, students can utilize the simple test-taking and anxiety-reducing strategies they have been practicing.
The students in grades three through eight each spring participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP).

Here are some tips on how to help your child get ready for the CAASPP.
“You are an essential part of your child’s education. Some things you can do to help your child are:
Talk about the test with your child. Make sure they are not scared or anxious.
Tell your child that you and his or her teacher have high expectations and that you are both there to help every step of the way.
Take a practice test with your child.
Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast before testing.”
Last Saturday, March 25, E.O. GREEN had a fantastic time participating in The City Of Port Hueneme’s 75TH Anniversary Celebration Parade & Street Fair. Excellent work, Hornets!

Spring Break is April 1 - April 14. Classes resume on Monday, April 17, at regular hours.
Creating family memories: Students can engage in many fun and educational activities during their spring break vacation. It is the perfect time to enrich family experiences and reconnect during quality time as a family. Here are some ideas to do with the supervision of a parent/guardian:
Take a trip to the beach, a park, and the mountains and explore different plants and trees.
Participate in community service projects, such as cleaning up a park, visiting a nursing home, or volunteering at an animal shelter in the company of a parent. What a great way to volunteer and give back to the community.
How about learning a new skill? Help your guardian with cooking, gardening, or cleaning to learn something new.
Read for pleasure. Take advantage of the free time to read books that interest you, either for pleasure or to learn more about a subject that interests you. Remember you have access to FRECKLE Math and Reading via Renaissance in CLEVER. It is free, access it to maintain your reading and math skills.
It is springtime, a perfect time for outdoor activities. Go on a hike, visit a national park or beach, go camping, or take a bike ride to enjoy the beauty of nature. Fantastic, nothing better than fresh air!
It is time to spend quality time with family and friends. Take the time to catch up with family and friends and enjoy quality time together. Laugh and hug each other.
Take the opportunity to relax and recharge by enjoying the days given as a Spring vacation. Take naps or practice mindfulness. Perhaps you want to do yoga…
Less Technology during the vacation. Take a break from your Chromebook and cellular phone. Do something you enjoy other than social media, texting, or navigating the internet. According to research, social media cause stress, so reduce it as much as possible.
Remember, the most important thing is to do what makes you happy and helps you feel refreshed and rejuvenated when returning to school on Monday, April 17, at regular hours, 8:00 am.
So, HORNETS, have fun, rest up and remain safe.
Attentively,
Irma Melgoza-Vasquez, Principal

California Summative ELPAC Test for all English Learners
Dear EO Green families,
The California Summative ELPAC season is upon us. All English Learners in the state of California are mandated to take the Summative ELPAC once a year. This assessment is used for multiple purposes, it is used to monitor progress, as the #1 criterion for reclassification, to ensure that EL students are gaining access to all core subjects, and to measure the district's effectiveness in supporting this special population.
The ELPAC consists of four rigorous assessments that measure language proficiencies in all domains: reading, writing, listening and speaking. The assessments are integrated, including grade-level texts of literature, non-fiction, history, science, and mathematical references.
At EO Green, testing administration will begin on 02/06/2023 and continue through the end of March. Most ELPAC tests will be given during the students' scheduled ELD classes or periods. Completing ELPAC testing for our school takes a community effort, a special thank you to each of our ELD teachers, and to our team of EL paraeducators. Our goal is to complete all testing by 03/31/2023.
We appreciate your support, in making attendance a priority, and ensuring your student is well-rested and ready for school every day. Thank you!
Respectfully,
Jennifer Tapia

Message From The Health Office:
The health office is a busy place. We have seen an increase in students coming to the health office that appear to be using the COVID protocols as a way to get out of class. Please talk with your student about not coming to the health office unless they are genuinely not feeling well. Also, COVID is still present and we are following the current Ventura County Public Health guidelines so please have a plan for who can pick up your student in case your student is sent home sick. Any COVID symptoms still require a negative COVID test result for the student to return to school. We want students in class as much as possible while looking out for your students' health and safety. Thank you for your help.

COVID Symptom Reminder and Return to School Requirements
As a reminder, at no time is it acceptable to send students to school when they are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, and especially if they have received a positive test result (laboratory based OR at-home test). Please make sure to report all positive cases to your students’ school.
Temperature Screening: Please screen your child at home each day for fever or symptoms and do not send your child to school if he/she is symptomatic or sick.
Students are to stay HOME if:
-If your student does not feel well, keep them home.
-If your student has any COVID-like symptoms, keep them home.
Home tests or antigen tests are now accepted
-Thank you for keeping our school community safe.
