PBIS or SEL Tip of the Week!
Classroom Tip of the Week!
This dimension addresses how instruction is tailored, or differentiated, to meet the individual learning needs of all students. Teachers can differentiate the CONTENT that is taught by segmenting the learning objectives; how students are expected to PROCESS information through varied instructional strategies; the types of PRODUCTS or outcomes students are to produce; or the learning ENVIRONMENT through grouping strategies, student work areas, tapping students’ learning styles or other participation approaches.

A word about dress code
A history lesson- This is only the 2nd year of standardized dress at Cavazos. It was a fairly easy transition because we stood together and were consistently a team (except for the jackets). Those who were here before can attest that standard dress has made a positive impact on our school community. Since the jackets were a source of concern last year, we adjusted the policy to make it easy. Truly, easy. There is NO reason that a sixth grader should have on a hoodie or other jacket out of dress code. Many returning students have school jackets from last year. And, it is not difficult to find a solid black, navy, or grey jacket, sweater, or sweatshirt without logos. It just isn't. If someone feels that these options are impossible to find, we offer a great school jacket. Order forms are available in the office. It is baffling to watch an adult literally tuck the hood in for a student so that they don't get "caught". It isn't about getting caught. Or modeling ways to get around rules that you do not agree with.
So, what can you do to help? First period, when the student council says, "Teachers, look around the room...send anyone out of dress code to the office for help." 1. Take up jacket with promise to deliver it to the 8th period teacher 2. Send the student or jacket to the office for assistance 3. Encourage students to put their jacket in their backpack before school starts. So, what if the jacket comes out later in the day? See option one and two above. What if I believe the student does not have the money for a jacket? 1. Ms. Racu with communities in schools is a great resource 2. Let an administrator know, we may have a jacket we can give them
We thank you in advance for your support in this matter. We recognize that you do so much each and every day. You are an amazing, dedicated, passionate partner in our journey to educate our students and we couldn't do it without you. YOU truly make a difference!
