Happy New Year!
Language Arts
Report cards were sent home this week. Please review them and contact me with any questions. Continue to review lower case letters, sight words (Unit 5 words should arrive home with your student today), and rhyming. All students are struggling with being able to identify sets of rhyming words. For example, if I give them the words lip and lap, all of the kids will tell me that yes, those words do rhyme when they do not. They are all excellent at producing a rhyming word (give me a word that rhymes with cat - they can all tell me something that rhymes with that given word). Another area that all students should work on is identifying a common word's opposite. Hot/cold, up/down, in/out, over/under, walk/run...etc. I was surprised at how many students responded to the question "What is the opposite of 'walk'?" with "...not walk?" Ha!
Math
This week and early next week will be spent discussing numbers 20-25 as well as counting by 10s. Please feel free to include these topics in your discussions/practice at home as well!
Science
Landforms, bodies of water, how air and water are used...these were all discussion topics this week in Science. We will complete our unit assessment next week!
