Self-Sustainable House
The house of the future!!
what is this?
location and Enviroment
The front yard has butterfly bushes, wild flowers, grass, and it is watered by rainwater that is collected during rainfall. the backyard has a bird bath, a bird feeder, a fish pond, and plenty of large mature trees. The backyard will also contain a large food garden.
Food
*corn
*green beans
*carrots
*lettuce
*broccoli
*tomatoes
*onions
*apples
*strawberries
*and watermelon.
The garden will be watered using a gravity fed irrigation system that uses only collected rainwater.
I will only use diluted mixture of organic soap and water to keep pests away from my food while protecting my crops and the environment.
I will be burring my food waste in the soil to nourish it and keep the crops healthy.
Transportation
The vehicle will be powered using electricity generated by the solar panels on the roof of the house.
Waste Mannagement
For hard plastics, tins, card boards, and paper i will try to re-purpose it as best as i could and any other left over materials will be recycled properly through the city services.
For garbage ( soft plastics, Styrofoams, non-recyclable materials, ect.) i will try to use minimal amounts of these materials, therefore resulting in less waste. The waste will also be disposed of through city services.
local support
Toxic everyday chemicals
#1: bleach, bleach is just one of the chemicals that are found in my house that is toxic to humans and animals. it is used to clean and disinfect surfaces around my house( im a bit of a clean freak). The fumes alone can be toxic and dangerous to us.
#2: vinegar, vinegar is a common household chemical which can be dangerous to humans in large quantities and to animals in any quantity.
#3: acetone, acetone is a solvent which is used as nail polish remover. its fumes are extremely dangerous and it is DEADLY toxic when ingested.
Bleach
*chlorine
*sodium
*calcium
*hypochlorite
bleach is classified as an oxidizing agent. bleach is a non-metal.
Electrical Source
Thick, energy star rated windows conserve the amount of escaped heat/cold, therefore reducing the amount of energy needed to heat/cool my house.
Appliances & lightbulbs
i will be using Phillips L.E.D light bulbs throughout my house because they use a minimal amount of energy and they last a very long time therefore i will not have to replace them as often resulting in less waste.
Space Related Technologies
The ability to harness the suns energy to use as electricity came from space exploration, so with out space exploration my house would not be half as efficient as it is right now.
