No Windows!

When there is a tornado, stay inside! Go into a room where there are no windows on the lowest level of your house, like a basement. If you don't have a basement, an inner hallway or small inner room without windows, such as a bathroom or closet.

Go to the center of the room and stay away from corners. Get under something sturdy like a table, workbench, or piece of furniture. Use your arms to cover your head and neck.

School or Work!

If you're at work or school, avoid any wide-roofed areas.

On the Road!

Never try to drive faster than a tornado, they can change direction quickly. Get out of the car right away and find shelter in a nearby building. If you can't get indoors, go under the car or in a ditch or any low-lying area away from the vehicle.
