Heritage Night
Please join us TONIGHT for Heritage Night from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.!!! We are thrilled by the response from our Brookwood families and so grateful for the many volunteers who are contributing to make this event a success! We are excited to have so many different countries represented this year and look forward to a fantastic display of educational information, delicious, authentic food and entertaining performances by Brookwood students and alumni! Please join us this evening for a fun night with our fellow Bobcats!
Scholastic Book Fair
PTO's Fall Scholastic Book Fair will be the week of Monday, November 11 - Friday, November 15, and will include a Family Night at the Book Fair on Wednesday, November 13 from 5:00 -7:00 p.m.. Please note the Family Night at the Book Fair has been rescheduled to Wednesday evening to align with Family Connect Night.
Parents, we are amazed by your willingness to support and the amount of people who have already signed-up to volunteer at the Book Fair throughout the week! Our Book Fair runs for many hours during the week, and we simply could not make it possible without our amazing parent, and grandparent, volunteers' help!! This year, we will offer 1 and 1.5 hour shift opportunities for which volunteers are able to sign-up as often, or as little, as able! The link to manage our volunteer sign-up is https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0a49a8ad22a1ff2-parent1. Our theme for this Fall Book Fair is Artic Adventure... We can't wait to CHILL OUT with everyone next week!
World Kindness Day
Every day is Kindness Day if you’re a Brookwood Elementary Bobcat!!! However, did you know there’s an official World Kindness Day on November 13? We have some great news to share as we are super excited to announce that Jordyn's Summer Shirt Project is partnering with Brookwood Elementary to share the BE KIND TO EVERYONE message, while simultaneously helping us raise money for our school’s educational grants.
How do you order a awesome BE KIND TO EVERYONE apparel and other goodies? Simply go to www.bekindtoeveryone.com and place orders with the code “Brookwood” (the code is case sensitive). Please note that all orders must be placed by tomorrow, November 9 to arrive in time for World Kindness Day. A special thank you to Jordyn’s Summer Shirt Project as they will donate 25% back to our school for educational grants. What a great opportunity for everyone to stock up on fantastic apparel and gifts, and also to share this amazing link with family and friends!
In addition to the BE KIND TO EVERYONE project, we will be placing a KINDNESS TREE in our front lobby in conjunction with November's World Kindness Day. Our Kindness Tree will have heart-shaped note leaves that anyone can come by and fill out to share acts of kindness or words of kindness about others. We plan to share some of these acts of kindness on the morning news throughout the month! The Kindness Tree will remain in our lobby until the Thanksgiving Break. Please remind your students to stop by and visit our Kindness Tree!

The Place Holiday House - A Place of Joy
In a few short months, the air will be filled with smells of the holidays and the atmosphere will carry feelings of merriment, good wishes, and joy. For many in the Forsyth County area, however, the Holiday season is met with stress, fear, and sadness. As these parents work to make it day-to-day, Christmas morning is simply an expense they cannot afford.
Last year, The Place Holiday House helped these parents provide Christmas joy for over 2,000 children. We hope you'll let The Place Holiday House be your PURPOSE this holiday season. To see what you can do to help, simply click https://bit.ly/2qmSmqr

The generous and talented woman behind these delicious cakes is the woman behind the mask in these photos! Thanks to Brookwood Elementary parent, Flo Valdes, for helping us treat our teachers in the sweetest way every month! We are thrilled to present SCREENAGERS: Growing Up in the Digital Age, a documentary about the biggest parenting issue of our time.
Are you watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that happening with her own kids and began a quest to uncover how it might impact their development. As with her other two award-winning documentaries on mental health, Ruston takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and also offers solutions on how adults can empower their kids to best navigate the digital world to find balance.
SCREENAGERS addresses the most pervasive parenting issue of our time head on—depicting teen struggles over social media, video games and internet addiction. The film empowers kids to best navigate the digital world and provides practical resources to help them do it.
Family Connect Nights!
Brookwood works with our middle and high school feeder schools to have a combined Family Connect Night once a month. This night is designed to put down homework and connect as a family. Some great ideas are to try something new, cook dinner together, have a puzzle night, game night, go for a walk or anything where you change up your routine and be in the moment! Be on the lookout for how we will post pics of your awesome Family Night!
