Happenings at Log College

Ah Pennsylvania...the only state where you can experience all four seasons...in the same day! At least spring is here, and the warm weather is starting to make a regular appearance! We have had a relatively quiet few weeks since the last issue of the Colonial Times, as we are transitioning into our spring activities. All of our spring sports teams have started practicing, and will begin their competitive seasons in the next few weeks. Spring MAP testing has just wrapped up, and we are currently preparing for PSSA testing which will start once the students return from Spring Break. Third marking period report cards will be available on Wednesday, April 10. If you have questions about your child's grades, please contact their teachers.

National History Day

On March 30th, Log College took 10 students to compete in the local Bucks and Montgomery National History Day competition. Students have been working on their projects for over five months. Projects consisted of "Historic Displays", Websites, video documentaries, and a "Live Performance". At the competition, Log had a group of three students who placed 1st in the "Live Performance" category. These three gentlemen will now be eligible to compete in the statewide competition. Log College is proud of all the students involved in the competition!

Brad Fox Fundraiser

On Friday June 14th, you have a great opportunity to support the Officer Brad Fox Foundation! Officer Brad Fox was a William Tennent graduate, Marine, and police officer who lost his life in the line of duty in 2012. His legacy lives on with the foundation whose fundraising activities generates money to distribute to various charities.

Those students who pre-purchase a Brad Fox t-shirt will gain entry into the “Nukem” tournament being held on the last day of school. Additional details are available on Log’s homepage, our TVs, and in your Social Studies class. Don’t miss out on a fun way to support this noble cause for Officer Brad Fox Foundation!

The Class-H Room

We are once again excited to announce that students and staff from Log College will be taping an episode of Fox 29's "The ClassH Room." The teacher and student groups will be competing against each other for a $500 prize that will be going towards a project or group of their choice at Log! We expect that the episode featuring Log College will be airing sometime in the next few weeks. Please stay tuned for more information about this exciting opportunity for Log College!
Combating Anxiety in Children and Adolescents

Children today face higher levels of anxiety than ever before. This brief article highlights new ways that professionals are helping families deal with it.

Attendance Procedures

Please be sure to turn in absence excuse notes within three (3) days of your child's return to school. Absences will remain unexcused until notes or turned in or if the three day window is exceeded. If your child has 10 or more cumulative days of absence, a doctor's note is required for all absences past 10 days.

Absence excuse notes can also be emailed to Log College at the following address:

For family trips during the school year, a Family Trip Request Form must be submitted to the Principal at least two weeks (10 school days) prior to your trip. All requests submitted less than 10 days prior will be denied.

From the Nurse

All students in Grade 6 need a physical examination, this should include the required immunzations for 7th grade (Tdap & Meningococcal). The physical examination form needs to be completed by your child’s doctor and returned to the school nurse.

Students in Grade 7 need a dental examination. The dental examination form needs to be completed by your child’s dentist and returned to the school nurse.

Form are available on our website or in the nurse's office.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the school nurse.

Thank you for your ongoing support, as we strive to keep the children of LCMS safe and healthy!
