Dear Everitt Families:
I'm writing in response to Jeffco's announcement that all secondary schools in our district will shift to 100% Remote Learning for all students beginning Monday, November 16. First I want to say how wonderful it has been to have staff and students in our school these last few months. I am deeply proud of how our community has come together, kept each other safe, and taken care of one another in a very difficult time. I am lucky to be a part of such an extraordinary community.
I also want to say that though we are heartbroken that we will not get to see our students face-to-face, we respect the difficult decision that our district leaders and public health experts had to make in order to keep our community healthy.
Finally, I am writing to reiterate Everitt's 100% Remote Learning expectations for students. It seems like a very long time ago that we began the school year in an 100% Remote Learning Environment. The short version of the reminders below is: we will do school exactly the same way as we started.
We will be at Everitt from 7:00am to 3:30pm tomorrow (Friday, November 13). If your student needs to pick up materials from school to successfully learn remotely through the end of Winter Break, please stop by so that we can get you what you need. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call me at 303.982.6288 or email at Jeena.Templeton@jeffco.k12.co.us. I am always eager to hear from you.
As always, thank you for believing in the power of neighborhood schools to bring our communities together, and thank you for sharing your kids with us; it is our honor to serve them.

Bell Schedules and Attendance
Please remind them of the following:
- Monday through Thursday, all students will have a live Zoom or Google Meet in each of their classes, including CREW.
- Teachers will take attendance during their synchronous lessons in Zoom or Google Meet, usually at the beginning of class. It is important that students attend class on time.
- Students should log in to Google Classroom between 7:15 and 7:20 each morning and carefully read each of their teachers' instructions and expectations for the day.
- Though students will have live classes with each of their teachers, they may not be expected to stay on Zoom or Google Meet for the entirety of each 90 minute block. We know that being on a computer all day long is not best practice for our students. Teachers will, however, often expect students to come back to the Zoom to check in periodically throughout the period, and many of them will take attendance each time they ask students to come back together.
In Remote Learning, Zoom is a classroom:
The Zoom/Google Meets students attend are like a physical classroom at Everitt. Students should respect our teachers’ and Everitt expectations as if they were here at school.
Please encourage your students to keep these expectations in mind:
- Attend each of your live virtual classes-- arrive on time and stay in class until your teacher dismisses you.
- Follow our dress code-- remember, remote school is still school.
- Follow your teachers’ expectations for Zoom etiquette.
- Turn on your video when they ask. Sometimes, it’s really important for us to see your face!
- Mute and unmute when they ask.
- Type in the chat when they ask.
- Stay on task.
- Avoid playing games on any of your devices while you’re in class.
- Avoid using your cell phone while you’re in class.
- Be alert and engaged in your learning; avoid laying down or lounging.
Troubles with Internet or Chromebook or Zoom?
- Let their teachers know that they are trying to get to class. That will make sure we don't mistakenly mark them absent.
