Interim Principal Update: A Note From Mr. Tucker
Dear Viking Parents;
As we approach spring break, I thought that I might share some life lessons that have served me well as a parent. These lessons have been shared with my children, will be shared with my grandchildren and have been shared with literally thousands of children over the years.
1. It is more important to be happy than to be rich. This has many applications, but one in particular, is the world of work. When a person finds his/her calling, they will see that they will never work a day in their lives.
2. Kindness can defeat the baser nature that might hope to surface in our lives. We must lead from our mind's heart and our better selves. Doing good changes a person's demeanor and outlook on life.
3. Working together will generally carry us farther and faster than facing the world alone. Life can be difficult at times, yet with support, all of us can make it.
4. Believe in yourself. As I noted last week, we do not always make the right decision nor do the right thing, and yet, know that if the heart is in the right place then the subsequent actions will likely be on target.
5. Life is a precious thing. There is such a short time from the beginning until the end. Thus, it is incumbent on us to make sure that our time is not wasted. Do the things in life that are required of you, that make you happy, that show others that you care for them and take care of yourself, so that you can serve.
Best wishes for a joyful break. I hope that you have an opportunity to spend meaningful time together as a family.
Best wishes, ct
Safety Alert
Student safety is our top priority and your observance of these procedures is greatly appreciatedI
DROP-OFF
Car riders are dropped off directly in front of Viking Hall.
- Please make sure your students stay in the car and are ready to quickly exit your vehicle only in front of Viking Hall.
- Also, pull forward in the line to keep our drop-off line running efficiently.
PICK-UP
Car riders will wait to be picked up directly in front of Viking Hall.
Parents who are parked for pick-up in the baseball field parking lots on Bar-K must be waiting for immediate pickup at dismissal.
- To ensure their safety, students must proceed directly to this area using the doors that exit to the faculty parking lot behind the gymnasium.
- Students may cross at the crosswalk only when given clearance by the crossing guard.
- STUDENTS MAY NOT WAIT IN THE AREA BY THE CROSSWALK TO BE PICKED UP. They will be escorted to the pickup line.
Hopefully, soon after the break, you will see visible expectations expressed with signage and painted lines denoting the appropriate place to stop your vehicle for loading and unloading at Viking Hall. Once the lead car in each group reaches the "yellow" line, it is appropriate and acceptable for cars to unload from the line to the west end of the sidewalk in front of the cafeteria. This will allow for the maximum number of cars to unload. It will be safer!!
I know the last thing anyone wants is for a child to be struck by a car while exiting into a lane of traffic and signs will also be posted noting "No Drop-off until reaching Viking Hall".
Thanks for keeping the safety of our children paramount in your thoughts.
