Dear Wellington Families,

My hope is that this newsletter finds you enjoying these last few days of summer! Although we are disappointed that we could not start school in-person, we want to assure you that we will make this school year great! We are looking forward to serving your students this school year and a time when we can all return to the school building!

We eagerly await the day we are able to welcome back ALL of our students into our buildings. Until then, we look forward to continuing our partnership with you in the education of your student, no matter what that may look like this school year.

Wellington Elementary is the best place to be! Whether it is remote or virtual, our staff and teachers are ready to "see" your child on August 19! Again, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at braunt@lisd.net. I am happy to answer your emails, schedule a time to visit with you by phone. I truly am here for you, our students, our teachers, and staff.

DATE CHANGES for Parent Orientations - PLEASE READ!

Two Parent Orientations for students participating in-person/remote learning will occur before students return to campus on September 8th. The first set of orientations will be covering what remote learning will look like. The second set or orientations will cover more details regarding procedures for classroom routines, arrival/dismissal, safety, etc...

Yearbooks, Class Photos, Textbooks, Wrap Packs, Devices... OH MY!!!

We will be distributing yearbooks, class photos, textbooks, wrap packs, and car tags on August 17th through a drive by pick-up from 9:00 - 10:30 am. For last names starting with A-L, you will pick up in the front circle. For last names starting with M-Z, you will enter the drive by the portables off Bruton Orand. Please put a sign in your car window with your child's first and last name as well as their grade. We will have teachers stationed with walkie talkies and they will bring your child's supplies to your car.

PTA will have a few wrap packs available for purchase. More details to come.

Fourth graders and new to WES fifth graders will receive their iPads on August 17th as well. Skyward forms and the 1:X insurance fee must be completed before an iPad can be distributed. You can find this in your Family Access Skyward account under the "Fee Management" tab. On Monday, August 10th, when the district gives parents access to Skyward, you should be able to see your account to update the fees section.

**If you are a parent of a current WES student and also have a former 5th grader from last year, you may pick up your former 5th graders yearbook, class picture, and music recorder at the same time.

**Former 5th graders with no sibling at WES will be able to pick up yearbooks and pictures on the same day, Aug. 17th, from 10:30-11:00.

"What will our campuses look like once we return in-person?" Video

LISD has created a video below to give you a glimpse inside what we expect our campuses to look like should your student return to in-person learning when our doors open on Sept. 8.

Attention Kindergarten Parents:

Unfortunately we will not be having Kinder Camp this year due to the need to minimize the movement of students due to social distancing (and remote and virtual learning). Our Kindergarten teachers will be sending a Google doc to get to know your child better before school begins. Be looking for that to come in an email to you on Monday.
