K-5 Math

3rd Six Weeks

Advanced Questioning

Effective questioning sessions in the classroom require advance preparation.

Steps for planning questions:

  1. What's the lesson's objective?

  2. Focus questioning around key concepts.

  3. Ask pondering questions versus short answer.

  4. Be clear and concise with what's being asked.

  5. Questions should not be leading....meaning answers aren't obvious.

  6. “Script” your main questions in advance.
