La Costa Meadows Elementary School
Welcome to week 2 of school!
August 20, 2023
Hello Dolphin families,
Our first week of school was a success! There were lots of adjustments with new teachers, friends, acquaintances, adjusting to new expectations in the new year. The students were resilient and I applaud you parents for your hard work and dedication to your child's success. Thank you!
Thank you to those families who attended LCM's Back to school night (BTSN) on Monday and Thursday. Thank you PTO, Fit Kids, ELAC Committee, and Boy Scouts of America for being present at our annual BTSN.
City of Carlsbad Construction Update
Thank you kindly to the City of Carlsbad for considering the needs of local school traffic and supporting the community. We appreciate you.

Flag Salute
LCM will be having their fist flag salute!
- Friday, August 25th from 8:45 – 9:15am
- Gates will open for parents to enter school at 8:15AM.
- Please allow ample space for classes to sit on ground and then proceed to stand behind your child's class
BEFORE SCHOOL SUPERVISION
The playground will be open to students each morning at the following times:
AM Transitional Kindergarten: 8:00 AM (Enter campus through the kindergarten playground gate)
Kindergarten: 8:15 AM (Enter campus through the kindergarten playground gate)
First through Fifth Grade: 8:15 AM Daily (Enter campus through the main breezeway gate)
No supervision will be provided prior to the designated time for your child’s grade level, so students should not arrive at school before this time. Once students arrive, they may not leave unless a parent or other authorized person comes to the office to sign them out. To ensure the safety of our students, you will be required to show identification when you pick up your child. Students will not be released to any adult unless they are on their emergency contact list. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to ensure the safety of all of our students.
KINDERGARTEN DISMISSAL
Kindergarten parents: We have made some minor adjustments. There will be a Kindergarten teacher calling on students using a mega phone. Please make sure you:
- Wait in the line by teacher label in marked off areas
- Avoid crowds near exit gate where Kindergartners exit
- Do not come to the gate unless your name was called in the original waiting area
- Parents that go straight to the exit location will not have their child's name called out.
- Please make sure you are in the proper line and respect families already waiting.
- Please have paper copy of child 's name and teacher. Avoid cell phone
- If a Kindergarten student has a sibling in an older grade level, or is part of a carpool with an older LCM student, the older student will pick up the kindergartener at the designated area and return to the older child’s grade level waiting area until teachers are notified via the app that the ride is in the pick-up area. A detailed explanation of the kindergarten dismissal process can be found HERE.
- Older student picking up Kindergartner will need a paper with child's first name and teacher daily
PARKING LOT DROP OFF AND PICK UP
When dropping off and picking up students, please pull all the way to the front of the drop off lane before stopping. Only the mainland (right side) will be used for drop off and pick up.
Morning Drop Off:
Do not let your child out of the vehicle until you have come to a complete stop at the edge of the curb.
Never leave your car unattended in the loading zone. If you need to enter the school campus for any reason, please park your car on the street or in an available parking spot in the lot. Please refrain from parking in designated staff parking places.
Parents should remain in the vehicle when dropping off their child, please give goodbye hugs and kisses at home, before coming to school. This allows for a more efficient drop off process and helps eliminate traffic back up.
Students should exit the vehicle on the passenger side only.
Please avoid pulling around other vehicles while in the parking lot. Remain in the drop off lane until the vehicles in front of you have moved, then you may proceed forward to drop your child off. One your child has exited the vehicle, you may enter into the drive thru lane on the left to exit the parking lot.
Afternoon Pick up (Vehicles):
In order to alleviate traffic on our neighborhood streets, please arrive for pick up no earlier than five minutes before the dismissal bell.
Please ensure that you are logged in to the iSchool Ride pick up app so that school staff is alerted upon your arrival. To access a tutorial on how to set up your iSchool Ride account, please CLICK HERE to access the tutorial video.
If you are unable to download the iSchool Ride app, please have a placard with your child’s first and last name and their teacher clearly displayed on your dashboard.
