Welcome to English!
English II Honors and English IV AP Literature
A Note from Mrs. Neal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and express my excitement about working with your child this year in either English II Honors or English IV AP Literature and Composition. I know this exciting transition back into school might, at times, be stressful for both you and your child. I can assure you that I will help your child be successful in any way that I can.
A Family Environment - Collaborative Learning - High Expectations - Support - Growth Mindset - Design Thinking - Service - Leadership - Teamwork
I love teaching English because I care deeply about the value and effect that literature can have on the world. I believe learners will grow and develop by examining the issues that are presented to us through literature. The main goal of my course is to help learners see the world through a different lens and that their love of reading is cultivated and nurtured.
One of the ways to nurture a passion for reading is through a wide variety of texts. In order to best serve your child, I have set up a Donors Choose project in the hopes of filling our classroom library with books to appeal to all of our learners. If our project is funded, we will add 36 new books to our library. If you are willing to donate, please see the link below. If not, please consider sharing our link on social media or with those you think may wish to help.
Additional information about the class is provided in the infographic syllabus below. Please read the syllabus and sign the Student/Parent Agreement card that will be provided to your child on the first week of school in order to indicate your understanding and support of the classroom system.
Also note that if you ever have questions or concerns, I am available to help!
I look forward to a great year!
