ALVORD UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
Distrito Escolar Unificado de Alvord
A Message from the Superintendent....
Watching our seniors walk across the stage this past week was among the most emotional graduation events that many of us have ever experienced. The students represent so much more than just high school graduates. They are survivors. They are change agents. They are on the cusp of inheriting a world that is changing in the aftermath of a pandemic that brought our country and most of the world to its knees.
The pandemic experience and its impact on our students was reflected in their speeches. Watch and listen to them below in the Graduating Class of 2021 section along with each Principal's remarks, Board President Vega's remarks, and photos of the graduation ceremonies.
The complete ceremonies were broadcasted live over our YouTube channel. Watch the recordings here:

Looking Ahead to 2021-22...
Q: When does the 2021-22 school year start?
A: August 6, 2021. See the entire school year calendar below.
Q: Will school be traditional in 2021-22?
A: Yes. We are planning for a full return to in-person instruction five days a week. Safety measures will be communicated to families as we approach the start of school since it's impossible to predict the conditions at that point in time.
Q: Will there be distance learning options?
A: Yes. Principals and counselors will work with families that prefer to remain in a distance learning program to discuss the options available.
Q: Will a COVID-19 vaccine be required for school entry?
A: No. State governments decide which vaccines are required for school entry. At this point in time there is no COVID-19 vaccine requirement for this coming school year.

In Closing....
On behalf of the Board of Education, it's been a privilege to serve you - our students and their families - this past school year. We look forward to a traditional school year in 2021-22. Additional academic and social emotional support have been added to every school to address learning loss and other student needs.
Take advantage of the summer school programs to either catch-up or get ahead, or both. All of our schools are offering summer school.
Enjoy your break from school too. Have a great summer! We will see you when the 2021-22 school year begins, on August 6.
Stay positive. Stay safe. Be well.
Sincerely,
Allan Mucerino
