The Claxton Directory has gone DIGITAL!

Our PTO has subscribed to the MySchoolAnywhere service for our family and faculty directories. It's secure, easy to use, and free to families.

The family directory helps to build community with better communication among Claxton parents, students, and families. You can connect with a classroom peer for playdates/parties or reach out for help if you have a question about an assignment!

There are 2 ways to register: simply click on the link below or go directly to the site, enter our school code, and follow the steps to register your family.

You specify what information you'd like to appear in the directory – email, phone, address – or any combination - or choose not to appear at all. There are options to enter one or two parents and/or two households. Only current Claxton families will have access to the directory and your information is secure and never given to 3rd parties.

Volunteer Background Checks for Asheville City Schools

As a volunteer, you are an important part of the school community. When you become a volunteer, your work takes on special significance -- though you are not part of the staff, you share the same responsibilities that paid staff are held to while engaged with students. If you plan on volunteering at Claxton this year, THANK YOU! Please click on the link below to complete a background check. This background check is required for anyone who may work in the classroom, serve as reading and math tutors, extracurricular coaches, mentors, and overnight field trip chaperones. It only takes a couple of minutes to fill out the information, and once it is returned (usually within a week), you are all set to go.

Box Tops 4 Education

Did you know that the money that Claxton receives from the Box Tops 4 Education program directly benefits Coach Swain's PE program?! Claxton is ALWAYS collecting Box Tops, and we want your help!

You can start by clipping the Box Tops off approved products you already have in your pantry. You don't need to clip the actual product UPC — just the Box Tops logo will do. From frozen foods to produce and household cleaning products, there are literally hundreds of opportunities to help, and each Box Top is worth 10 cents. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it adds up fast. Box Tops are collected in the clear plastic bears located in the front hallway and gymnatorium.

There are so many participating companies! Participating companies and product lines include General Mills, Green Giant, Totino's, Pillsbury, Old El Paso, Ziploc, Hefty, Juicy Juice, Betty Crocker and many more. Here is a link to the participating brands.

The Box Tops 4 Education program offers new discount coupons on popular brands each month and also offers benefits for online purchases! Click here to see this month's offers.

Clip those tops and lets fill those bears for Coach Swain!

October is Principal Appreciation Month

October is Principal Appreciation Month, and as you know, Asheville City Schools is home to the world's top school leaders. Send an email to Ashley Thublin explaining why you love your school's principal (any ACS school, but we may be partial to a certain orange-necktie-wearing leader) so much. Or, send ACS a tweet using the hashtag #TheACSWay!
Thank you to our 2017 Sponsor, Blue Ridge Pediatric Dentistry!
