My Homework Policy
2) I check reading logs, math logs and word work logs each Friday for an additional 5 Class Dojo points.
3) Students also lose 5 Dojo points for each incomplete homework assignment.
*If students forget their study links they are able to print them out from the Everyday Math site. See the math section of my newsletter.
Falcon Four
I give falcon feathers for students who consistently demonstrate our school's pledge in each of these areas. Throughout the day I am vigilantly looking for students who are putting the Falcon Four into practice. Check out Class Dojo to see all the ways your child can earn points.
When a student chooses not to follow our school's Falcon Four they may need to take time to 1) stop and think 2) stop, walk and talk or 3) spend extra time with me catching up on unfinished work during recess

For Fun!
We show this by having weekly classroom jobs, sitting in teams and earning tickets together, and by choosing a Spy Kid of the Week. This week it is Jayden's turn. He will contribute to our estimation jar and have special privileges throughout the week.
Word Study
I am also looking to see if your child is able to apply spelling rules to written homework and classwork.
We LOVE math!!!!
Keep memorizing those multiplication facts!
We will have a guest teacher visit on Friday to help us master Exemplar lessons.

Language Arts
1) We can write about imagined events! Our classroom is beautifully decorated with stories of how the students became trapped in a snow globe and how they plan to escape.
2) We can write a logical conclusion when writing a narrative piece! This week we will finish our narratives that we began in the fall and use our computer skills to publish our final copies.
Poetry -
Since Thanksgiving we have been reading, analyzing, and writing about poetry. What is your favorite poem? Share it with your child! Mine is Paul Revere's Ride by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. This Thursday we will take a final assessment.
Guided Reading -
I love connecting with your children over quality children's literature. I think small group time may be my favorite part of the day. At my circle table, we look within the text, beyond the text and how we can apply our learning to our lives outside of school. Ask your child about the book that he or she is reading with me!
