Message from Brenda

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students

I was delighted to hear about the team spirit shown at KGV pitch last Saturday for the Cross Country Run. Mr Sangster and Mr Pattison shared with the staff how proud they were of our runners and the way they cheered each other on, and how they supported their teammates. So lovely to hear and thanks for the supporting the children too. Some of you are also participating in the ESF Hong Kong Run this weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing you there.

The children have been very excited with many excursions taking place over the last few weeks.

The Year 1 students loved their visit to the theatre, some students also attended a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) workshop as part of an Island School Academy programme yesterday and found the day to be exciting, challenging and interesting.

Year 4 students visited the History Museum today as part of learning about Hong Kong.

And, of course our Chinese New Year performers are eagerly practising their performances for the show next week.

We hope to see you at the Lion Dance next Thursday morning at drop off.

Details about the Chinese New Year shows and organisation were shared in last week’s Newsletter. Please click on the link here to find out more.

Children are invited to wear Chinese inspired clothing on Thursday 31st January as part of the festivities.

School Photographs

Class and individual photographs will take place this Friday 25th January in school. Please ensure all the children come dressed in school uniforms.

For those classes who have PE on that day, please remember to send in their sports shoes so they can change for their class.

Flu Season

Please help us keep the school ‘germ-free’ by being vigilant about monitoring your child’s health and keeping them at home if they have flu symptoms or if they have a temperature. Please refer to the Medical room section of the Newsletter that gives more detail about this.

News from the Medical Room

It's that time of year again when the prevalence of influenza is on the rise in HK.

Parents we need your help and support:

If your child is sharing that they are not feeling well, please check your child's temperature before coming to school.

Should your child have a temperature of 37.5 or above, please do not return them to school until 24 hours after the fever has subsided without the use of medication.

Would you please inform us if your child is diagnosed with influenza (A or B) so we can monitor the situation across the school.

Please also remind your children about the importance of regular hand washing with soapy water. We will also speak to the children regarding personal hygiene.

Should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kid Power Programme

Dear Parents,

As of last week, we had 245 students signed up to participate in the UNICEF Kid Power Program. Thank you all very much for your support of this initiative.

The step tracker bands have arrived in Hong Kong and will be delivered to the school after Chinese New Year. You will receive more information regarding the distribution of the bands at that time.

Furthermore, in a bid to provide anyone who missed the December deadline with the opportunity to participate in this initiative, UNICEF have ordered a surplus of bands and are able to extend the sign up period until Thursday 31st January 2019.

If you would like to enrol your child, please follow the link below.
