From Mrs. Price

Buckalew Families,

Happy Monday! We hope you are all staying safe and healthy. Our in-person Buckalew Bears have been doing an INCREDIBLE job of properly wearing masks. I have been so unbelievably impressed by the normalcy of mask wearing that has ensued since we began in person instruction!

All parents should have received an emailed copy of your child's grade level curriculum and expectations on Friday from your child's teacher. Please take time to review your child(s) grade level expectations. In lieu of a live zoom orientation, our teams recorded or presented their grade level expectations for you to watch/read at your own time.

Online parents should have received an email with a form to complete if they are wanting to switch to in person learning for the 2nd grading period. We kindly ask that this is completed no later than September 28, 8am.

In Person parents, starting this week our dismissal will begin at 3:10.

Just a reminder, there are 2 different links below to review for success on the learning platform you have selected as a family. The remainder of the information in the BUZZ is applicable to our entire Buckalew Community!

For questions or concerns, please make sure to visit CISD's Roadmap to Reopening, call our front office at 281-465-3400, or email contactbuckalew@conroeisd.net

Have a great week,

Mrs. Price

Visiting the School

While at a Level 3 in CISD, parents are not allowed in the building. We now have added 3 reserved parking spaces for our parents if they do need something from the school. We ask that you park in one of the 3 reserved spaces and call the number rather than walk up to the door. This will maintain safety on a variety of levels.

Transportation Changes

Parents just a reminder to send all transportation changes to school with your child in their backpack.

For emergencies only, e-mail Buckalewtransportation@Conroeisd.net

PRIOR TO 2 PM and make sure you get a confirmation that your change was received.

Please note weather is not considered an emergency.

Classroom teachers do not always check emails throughout the day or may even be absent and that request would not be received in time. If you have sent a note with your child it is not necessary to e-mail the note to the front office. Thank you.

From our Police Department:

A few friendly reminders in regards to school zone safety and car rider drop off safety:

  • Please remember to remind your children NOT to cross until the crossing guards are at their posts in the morning. The building is not open until 7:30.
  • Please remember if you are in your car, to wait for the crossing guards not only to cross the children, but for the crossing guards themselves to make it back to the sidewalk.
  • Please remember to stay off your cell phones when driving in school zones.
  • Please remember their are NO DOGS allowed on school property. This is for your personal liability and the safety of all of our students.
  • Please remember there are no U-Turns in front of the school.
  • Lakeside Park- if you are dropping your kids off or picking them up from Lakeside Park please park your vehicle to do so. It becomes a safety issue to just drive up and let your kids out or have them get in without parking. Please use our car line in the back of Buckalew if you want just drop off your child.

Clinic News

Sometimes students don’t quite make it to the restroom in time, water bottles spill, food from lunch ends up in a lap, a slip in the mud on the playground or broken zipper can happen at any age or grade. It’s a good idea to put a change of clothing in your student’s back pack for just in case.

Water Donations

We are excited to announce that ONE of our water fountains (outside of the cafeteria and gymnasium) has been retrofitted as a bottle refill station. Please make sure your child has their water bottle with them each day. In the event your child forgot their own water bottle, they will be provided a bottle of water. We appreciate any donations of cases of water while we have our water fountains off for sanitation reasons.

Lost and Found

Lost and Found: please label all of your child's belongings

A friendly reminder to please label all of your child's belongings with first name and last initial or last name. **Water bottles, lunch boxes, hats, and especially outerwear such as hoodies/jackets/sweaters are all great things to label as these items tend to pile up quickly in the Lost and Found. "Pawsitively" Awesome Character! September Trait: Courage

Courage gets our September character spotlight. This month, our Bears will understand the secret to courage. Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is taking action despite being afraid or risking hurt. Courage is standing up for your beliefs, doing the right thing, or trying something new knowing that you could face failure, ridicule, or pain. Courage is a force that keeps us moving forward and is sustained by hope for our future. How can you be courageous today?

As a family, talk about people you know who have shown courage. Consider writing a thank you letter to someone you think of as a "Hero".

The below link will take you to a Crayola site for some cool paper to use for this optional activity.

Say It Colorfully Hero Thank You Letter

Color our free thank you coloring page and give thanks to heroes everywhere. Download & print this free printable thank you letter today!
