School Dismissal Update

In years' past, our dismissal would run from 3:00 pm - 3:15 pm. With the new protocols in place, we decided to extend the dismissal 2:50 pm - 3:20 pm, to ensure we had ample time to get students safely into their pick-up vehicles. Good news! Families who are picking up during our dismissal window are doing a fantastic job! We now feel confident ending our dismissal time at 3:15 pm. Students who remain in classrooms at 3:15 pm will go to the After School Program.

Please note: Should there be a school-related issue causing families to be late picking up their children, we will extend that time without consequence.

Early Dismissal Reminders!

Should you need to retrieve your child(ren) before 2:50 pm:

  • PK Only: Park in the PK parking lot, ring the PK doorbell, and your child will be brought to you.
  • PK + K-8 sibling: Park facing the soccer field and ring the K-8 doorbell. Enter, sign out your children.
  • K-8 Only: Park facing the soccer field and ring the K-8 doorbell. Enter and sign out your child(ren).

Flu Shots? Yes, Please!

Our local physicians are encouraging all members of the school community (students, families, staff) to receive flu shots this year (ideally before October). All locations are open for ALL ages and you do not need to be a CHSLV patient! You will need to call for an appointment; these will be "drive through" style (sorry, no French fries).

Out-of-State Visitors

When making plans to host visitors from out-of-state, please be mindful of yellow and red zones (updated weekly: click here). If visitors are traveling from a yellow or red zone, they must be symptom free and quarantine for 14 days before arrival. Alternatively, the visitors can quarantine for 7 days and have a negative COVID test before entering Vermont. Not adhering to these guidelines can put your family (and our school!) at risk.

If your visitors are not able to follow the state guidelines, your children must quarantine for 2 weeks (or must quarantine for 7 days with a negative COVID test result).

Houston, We Have a Washer (and Dryer!)

A big thank you to Stephanie and Jason Nichols for their generous donation of a washer and dryer to our school! Thanks to the Nichols family, we are able to safely sanitize items on site! Thank you, Stephanie and Jason!

Google Classroom for Parents

Please begin familiarizing yourselves with Google Classroom. This will be the primary platform classes will use, should we need to transition to distance learning. Teachers will begin practicing the use of Google Classroom to familiarize students and families. This will also allow us to work out any hiccups in a timely manner. It is very important that you accept the teacher invitation to "join" the Google Classroom(s). You will be able to edit the preferences that control the updates you receive from Google Classroom. Please click on the shortcut button below (titled: Google Classroom for Parents) for a basic overview of Google Classroom.

Raised Beds for our first week in the Community Garden Project

Topic: Composting and soil. What lives in Soil? What is dirt? Are there different types? We welcomed Master Gardner, Michell Macdonald to share her expertise! We got our hands dirty and created our own dirt beds. We'll be ready to plant in a couple of weeks.

BJAMS Run Wild Virtual 5K

Tomorrow starts the OPEN registration for the BJAMS Run Wild Virtual 5K race (it's a run or walk event). You can run anytime, anywhere on Oct 24th and 25th. If some of us want to gather at BJAMS and run the mapped out Morrisville race course that would be really wonderful. All registered participants receive a RUN Wild race t- shirt and a $10 gift certificate to Feet Fleet in Essex. There's also an amazing top prize for the Men and Women top finishers!

It's a community event, so we are hoping to see all of our BJAMS families, friends, and more...

Hope to see you all with your running shoes on!

The Call to Address Racism

In their new pastoral letter against racism, the Catholic Bishops of the United States invite conversations of hearts, minds, and institutions in order to address the evil of racism that continue to exist in our world. In the next few Friday Notes, I will be attaching excerpts from the pastoral letter to better inform our hearts and minds so that we may be agents of change. The introduction is below.
