Connecting Families and School Through Communication!

Dear Edgewood Families...

For this upcoming week of March 10th, I wanted to take a moment to send some information about our math curriculum, standardized testing for our students, and ongoing activities at Edgewood.

District Math Curriculum Now Online for Parents

Click on

to be directly linked to math curriculum units for our K-6 grade levels. (You now also have access to the Language Arts units.)

Another way to access the curriculum is through the Resources tab on our District's website, and then click on Parents. The first link along the right side of the screen is the Online Curriculum Guide. If you are not sure of the current math unit your child is studying, please be sure to contact your child's teacher.

Also, a great math site is included on the parent resource page, directly under the online curriculum guide, is LearnZillion, http://learnzillion.com/

This site includes Common Core State Standard videos which can provide you with more in-depth information about the math concepts your child is learning in the classroom. You can access the videos after signing up on this website with your e-mail address.

Please feel free to contact me, Mrs. Hughes, if you have any questions about the online curriculum guide or current math learning at our school.

ISAT and PARCC Testing

The students in grades 3-6 really demonstrated effort and positive attitudes at they worked through several sessions of the Illinois State Achievement Test this past week. Our 3rd and 4th grade students are now finished with ISATs, and our 5th and 6th graders will be completed the math sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this upcoming week. Thanks so much to our parents and staff for supporting the students through preparation and praise for good effort!

Our 3rd and 4th grade students will be participating in the PARCC Field Test March 25th, 26th and 27th, and we have blocked 8:30 to 10:30 A.M. as our testing window on each of these days.

General information was send out in last week's update to families, and I now have a direct link for you to our District's resources about these assessments: http://www.woodridge68.org/pages/Woodridge68/Curriculum/Assessments

On this page you can go to a link to access sample PARCC test items and see how students will be completing them on the computer-based format.
