What is a cell?
Cells are the structural and functional units of all living organisms. Some consist of a single cell such as bacteria. This is called a unicellular organism. Below is a diagram of a bacteria cell.
Where can cells be found?
Cells are in every living thing. Cells can be found in human beings, plants, bacteria and lots more!
What is Cell Theory?
Cell theory is a scientific method that decribes the properties of cells. The study of cells is called cell biology. Cell theory shows that new cells are made from pre-exsisting cells.
What are microscopes?
Microscopes are used for seeing very miniscule objects. When using a microscope, it has to be zoomed in several hundred times to be able to see any detail within it. Microscopes are used for looking in cells and many other things.
What are the differences between plant and animal cells?
Plant cells are basically the same as animal cells but plant cells have a cell wall. Plant and animal cells have a lot of simliarites such as, nucleus, ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum, golgi apparatus, plasma membrane and mitochondria.
What are the different types of microscopes scientists use?
There are many different types of microscopes used by all types of scientists but the four most popular microscopes are compound, stereo, digital and the pocket or handheld microscopes.
Why do they use different types of microscopes?
Scientists use different types of microscopes because they need to explore different types of cells and other things and some might require more depth than others.
Why do scientists use microscopes when looking at cells?
Scientists use microscopes when looking at cells because that's basically the only thing that can zoom in hundreds of times and are able to see detail within the cell.
What is the difference between a wet and dry mount slide?
A wet mount slide has moisture within it and is freshly prepared . A dry mount slde is pre-prepared and is also sealed.
Why do scientists use different techniques when looking at slides?
Scientists use different techniques because wet mount slides are used when a drop of water or liquid is needed during the procedure and a dry mount slide is mainly used when viewing feathers, pollen, strands of hair etc..
