Martin Luther King Jr. wanted all blacks to be treated as well as all white people. He was determined to end segregation in the United States. He became an activist early in his career and is best known for his role in advancing the Civil Rights Movement by leading nonviolent protests.
Michael Luther King was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a middle child, Willie Christine King was his older sister and Alfred Daniel Williams King was his younger brother.
King's Father, Michael Luther King Sr., had a big impacted on his life. Following a trip to Germany in 1934 to attend the Fifth Baptist World Alliance Congress in Berlin, Michael Luther King Sr. (Michael's father) decided to change his and his son's name to Martin Luther King after the famous German reformer Martin Luther.

Martin Luther King was born on January 15,1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a middle child. One older sister and one younger brother.
Middle Life
Martin Luther King dedicated his whole life to stopping segregation. He was married on June 18, 1953 to Coretta Scott King.

- Martin won the Nobel Piece Prize when he was 35. He donated all of the $54,123 (400,000 dollars of today money) to the Civil Rights Movement.
- He got a C in public speaking during his first year at seminary
- At age 12 he tried to commit suicide after he learned that his grandmother had past away. When he had got home from school and learned that, he went to the second story of his house, and jumped out of his bedroom window.
- He gave his " I have a Dream" speech on August 28, 1963, one year before segregation ended.
- He was a middle child.
- MLK Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968 in Memphis Tennessee.
