Head, Shoulders, Heart & Toes: Sock and Mitten Drive
Lauren Hill, Class of 2020...
Help those in need this long, cold winter by bringing in new donations of socks, mittens, hats, and more. All donations will be given to CleanSlate Centers in Tewksbury. CleanSlate treatment programs save lives with medication-assisted treatment for opioid and alcohol addictions. Their mission is to fight to save lives and help their patients achieve the lives they want and deserve. Many of their patients are homeless and struggling to stay warm throughout the winter without basic necessities like socks. Their patients come from all over our community, some even from right here in Groton and Dunstable. Join us and become a Warrior for Hope by lending a helping hand for others in our community in their time of need this winter. Donation boxes will be placed outside the office. Thank you!
Starts on Monday!

Chamber Choir Fundraiser
GD Volunteers team up with other local schools...
Club Leader, Mrs. Durst
The GD Volunteers are going to be participating in a meal packing event at Lawrence Academy this Sunday 1/13 /2019. The three area high schools Lawrence Academy, The Groton School and GDRHS will be participating together in this event this year.
Lawrence Academy has a group of students who organize an annual meal packaging event in January through Rise Against Hunger. They package between 10,000 – 18,000 meals in about 2-2.5 hours. The meals consist of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables, and a flavoring mix including 24 essential vitamins and minerals. The meals are placed in small sealed packages. These meals are then ready to be shipped to crisis areas in the United States and internationally. They are also used to support school feeding programs. Lawrence Academy has done this event 4 times and for the last two years they partnered with Groton School. This year they reached out to me at GD, because they were interested in expanding the event to include the third high school in our town. ...So this year all three area high schools have raised money and will be participating together in this meal packing event.
For more information I have included links to the Rise against Hunger website, and Lawrence Academy's youtube video of last year's event. I think this would be good to include in your weekly newsletter, we are excited about participating this year, and we plan to make this an annual event.
