This Week at Windsor...

#WEAREWINDSOR

November 18th, 2022

Windsor Families,

We had a very colorful week at Windsor! It was fun to see so many students participate in our Color Spirit Week!

On Thursday, we held an Ability Awareness Day for grades 1-4 with the Northwest Special Recreation Association. They provided experiential stations for our students to learn about people with varying abilities. Students had time to reflect on their experience at each station. Thank you to the PTA for funding this event.

Every year, Windsor Staff partners with Windsor Cares PTA committee to collect gift cards for Windsor families in need. This year, we will begin collecting after we return to school on November 28th. The giving globe will be set up in the office and students can bring in $10 or $20 gift cards to Marianos, Jewel, Aldi, Target, or Walmart to add to the collection box. Students will also add a sticker to the giving globe. We look forward to filling our giving globe and being able to provide families in need with a little extra this holiday season.

To meet the ABC25 membership goal, Windsor still needs 17 more families to join. If you are able to, please click this link to join: abc25.org/donate

Just a reminder that we go outside for recess if the air temperature is zero or above, please be sure to send your child(ren) to school with the proper cold weather gear. If your child is missing any of their winter items, be sure to come in and check out the lost and found.

Flu season is here, please see the important influenza information below. Also attached, is information regarding Lice.

I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving, we will see you in a week!

Have a wonderful week,

Mrs. Anastacio and Mrs. Soprano

Staff Spotlight:

Every week, we are sharing information about several staff members at Windsor. This week, get to know our student learning coach!

Vicky Stella

I’m Vicky Stella, and I’m the Student Learning Coach here at Windsor. This is my 9th year in that position. Before that, I taught 2, 3, ¾ and 4th grade at Westgate School for 20 years. I also student taught at Westgate and Olive. District 25 has been a wonderful place to call home! I have a BA in Education from Illinois State University and an Administrative certificate from Aurora University. I am also a National Board Certified Educator in Middle Childhood Education.

I live in Elk Grove with my husband, two girls (Lilly is 14 and Olivia is 11) and our dog Ruby. We love traveling to both Disneyland and Walt Disney World - we are truly a Disney Family! When we aren’t visiting Mickey and friends, you can find me reading, crafting, sewing, and spending time in the outdoors.

Stella's Station

Thanksgiving Week is here! Are you looking for something fun for your children to do on Thanksgiving? I’ve got you covered. Check out Vivify STEM’s 3 Turkey STEM Activities for Thanksgiving. Who knew you could make a circuit shaped like a Turkey that would actually work?? Happy Thanksgiving Wildcat Family! ~Mrs. Stella

Absences/Tardies:

If your child will be absent or tardy, please call the main line and listen for the prompts, 847-398-4297. You can also complete this online form: CLICK HERE TO REPORT AN ABSENCE ONLINE. While you may also email the teacher, there are times that the teacher will not read email prior to school starting. Please always leave a message first. We cannot stress this enough. Please also make every effort for your child to arrive at school on time. Missing the beginning of the school day often has a negative impact on students for the rest of the day. Please contact the office if your child will be tardy or needs to leave early.

ABC25 Get Burbed

Let your imagination run (pun intended) wild! All D25 students have the opportunity to submit a design for the ABC/25 Get Burbed Challenge official race shirt and posters! These shirts will be worn by over 500 participants at the ABC/25 Get Burbed Challenge on April 15, 2023. The design winner also gets to help select the color of the shirt! Official rules and regulations and t-shirt design forms can be found at abc25challenge.org/tshirt. Submissions are due back to your school office by December 2, 2022.

If your family is not yet a member of the ABC/25 Foundation, join today by visiting abc25.org/donate. All students of participating families will be entered in a drawing to win a ride to school from the Arlington Heights Police Department! All memberships dues go directly towards grants awarded to the teachers and classrooms of District 25.
