Cartersville Middle School
The Hurricane Watch, October 2020
From the desk of Mr. Gibson
I would like to thank all of those who attended our Virtual Back to School Night! If you were unable to attend, please click here to view our program. Please don't forget to sign in and fill out our Stakeholder Feedback Form.
As we move through this school year, I would like to encourage our students and families to continue to practice safety guidelines including social distancing, whenever possible, and wearing a mask when social distancing is not an option. We have installed water-filling stations around the school, and we encourage students to bring a clear water bottle to school each day. Please remember that masks should have a Canes logo or be a solid color. Thank you for your support!
Go Canes!
Mr. Gibson

Updates from the Guidance Department
Hello CMS families! We are your neighborhood friendly school counselors, here to bring you some information about a very popular app, Tiktok. Many of the activity challenges on Tiktok are harmless, however, some challenges presented on this app are quite dangerous and can lead to serious injuries, legal trouble, and other negative consequences for your student and others who participate. Below, you will find some online resources that not only give you an overview of this app but highlight some of the dangerous challenges on Tiktok and ways to protect your child.
As always, call or please email us if you have any questions or concerns. ajackson@cartersvilleschools.org

The Mentor Canes program is just getting started, so please call or email Dr. Jackson if you have any questions.
Are you interested in becoming a mentor?
Mentoring is one of the easiest and biggest ways to give back to our community. A mentor has the opportunity to truly change the life of a child. Mentors are paired with children in Kindergarten through 12th grade, we ask that you commit to 1 child, for up to 1 hour per week, for 1 school year. Please call Maria Davis at 770-387-4723 for more information.
